Re: Urban Meyer resigns as UF football coach
As a Florida fan, this was totally unexpected. This was one of the most anticipated years, really expecting a national title game appearance. With Tebow leaving next year as well as a few anchors on the defensive side of the ball and defensive coordinator Charlier Strong, next year is going to be a tough one. I thought initially with Urban resigning that he'd take a break for a year or two (unless he had some disasterous health problems, which he may well have) but then he would make the jump to possibly the next level. However, the guy runs the spread which just wont work in the NFL (at least not all the time). Now, with him taking a leave of absence, I'm not sure how it will affect recruiting.
As far as talent, I think defensively, its a deep squad, they have some good defensive recruits coming in as well. Offensively, its less known. Our Percy Harvin replacement actually never saw the field this year because of an injury, but its doubtful that the program sees as good of a match for the offense as Tebow was.
