USC vs UW

Explain to me how, save 04 and 05, USC has lost a conference game to a team they were way better than since the start of 03. Only time a comparably talented P10 beat them was Oregon in 07.

Cal in 03, OSU and UCLA in 06, Stanford in 07, OSU last year, Washington this year. I know USC migth be a tad down, but UW was freaking winless last year. Sark must be the best coach ever.

(1) SC's defense did what they had to do. They gave up 16 points.

(2) They return 8 starters on offense; injured is their 2nd receiver and had to replace Sanchez with one of three inexperienced QB's. Mustain was 8-0 as a freshman at Arkansas but really hasnt played or done anything of relevance since.

(3) Once Barkley got hurt, I knew this was a trap game. Even took U Dub and the 29 points. Barkley can actually pass which makes the defense think run or pass. Corp is a mobile QB who read defenses like Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder.

(4) Coach Sark and Coach Holt came from SC. So they basically knew formations and what they were going to run. After they saw Corp couldn't pass worth dick, eight in the box for 80% of the game.

(5) And finally, out of conference SC smashes squads except for that Rose Bowl game vs Texas (still can't see how they blew an 11 point lead with six minutes left). It says a lot about the Pac 10. P10 teams have been the only ones who have defeated SC recently and I think it's arrogance to a certain extent. After big wins, they go into the next game and act like their shit don't stink. These types of losses have kept them from playing in at least another three titles games.

Cal 03 = a year after the beginning and rebuilding of the program. I have no problem with that loss.

UCLA 06 = Rivalry game. Turnovers. Wasn't pretty.

Stanford 07 = JD Booty broke his finger on his throwing hand and made USC one-dimensional. Stack the box and make Sanchez, who had no experience, beat you. They still should have won that game. The defense played soft and gave up a 4 and 16; and a 4 and goal for a TD.

Oregon State 08 = After smashing Ohio State, they got cocky and arrogant and literally got blown off the ball and punched in the mouth. Was the first time I saw the front four get pushed off the line of scrimmage in years. And Quizz Rodgers is a 5'7" running back hiding behind dudes 300 lbs. By time they found his midget ass, the secondary were making tackles.

I would laugh if Washington doesnt win a single game the rest of the year.

Washington played LSU pretty closely in week 1 (or 2?); I would be quite surprised if they didn't win any more games.

that's the thing.... U Dub had a lot of talent on that squad and they will probably go to a bowl. If they can muster six wins after going 0-15, that is quite an accomplishment.

Alot of the talent happens to be many players from California that didn't get to lay at SC, UCLA or CAL. So they have much skillage ......

Washington is legit. They are a well-rounded squad. I have a mini-mancrush on Locker too...

I don't like USC, mostly because I am an OSU fan, but also because there is this arrogance about them. Like, after the clock hits :00 and they have lost, they expect to get the ball and score. No dudes, the game is over. Like they think they can turn it on when they want, and if that doesn't work, then the game should be extended until they are ahead. There's expecting to win, which great teams do, but you have to earn it. However, this year does not apply. They lost to UW because they just aren't that good this year, period. Sanchez really dicked them, and these things are just cyclical (it's hard to be amazing every year), and with PC at the helm, they will be Top 5 again next year, as should OSU (I hope).
