Villanueva To Cleveland? - via Hoopsworld

Tay or Rip? NOOOO thanks.

Villanueva? Basically gives you the kind of game Jamison would. I agree about getting a pick too, but yeah, I like it.

Other than the fact that Villa is a worse (!) defender then jamison, cant rebound, inconsistant, chucker, not a leader, and a pussy in general... yeah there about the same

Very scientific breakdown outta you my friend... for a second I thought you were talking about Z??

You forgot slow and over the hill, tho.

No Villanueva unless he comes with Tay or Rip.

Now you're talking about something that might really interest Detroit...Unloading both CV's contract plus either Price or Hamilton would get their 2010-11 payroll down low enough that they could actually afford a max free agent, or two players in the $8-10m range. I think Z plus West would probably do it money wise.

Again, I don't imagine Ferry would do this trade, but it is useful to consider other trades that might be conceivable.

I think Dan Gilbert's accountant just threw up in his/her mouth a little...

Maybe Prince, Hamilton, and Z can all play on the same rec league team, assuming certain nursing homes have rec league teams?

Well, Prince isn't yet 30 (though of course he is currently injured), while Hamilton is 31, going on 32, with 3 more years on his contract for $34m+. I think Hamilton has one of the worst contracts in the league, far worse than S-Jax who is actually not hurt, is putting up good numbers and helping his team win. I tried to make this point back when we were trying to trade for him (S-Jax). But Prince has only one year left on his contract, so that's not too bad, but I don't know what his injury status is.

Anyway, I basically agree with you, but this scenario isn't nearly as outlandish as taking on Elton Brand's albatross contract (along with Iggy) as has been suggested in other threads. Now trading for both of them would really upset the accountant.

Yeah, they arent that old. Washed up? Possibly. S-Jax would have been splendid.

I dont even discuss the Iggy/Brand combo because the city of Philly would riot in the streets if their GM gutted the team just to dump his own mistake (Brand, ugh). Not only would that be a huge investment and gamble, but I doubt Philly makes that move with anyone, much less a team offering up the Z and poo poo platter in return.

People who want Jamison but wouldn't take CV are crazy....

yes CV isn't quite as good...but the biggest differences are that CV is 8 years younger and makes half as much.

The problem is that detroit is never going to get rid of him as a straight salary dump, and I don't know that you'd want to include Hickson in the deal (especially if you don't have to include Hickson in the Jamison deal)

Honestly, I'm glad we didn't end up with Villanueva.

CV has not gotten any better or any more consistent. He would be a constant headache on our team.

I'd happy with Moon and Parker and the chance to add a stretch 4 through trade instead of Villanueva and a scramble to add a great wing-player through trade.

I dunno tho... give him JJ's minutes the same as you'd give em to Jamison, and I think you'd have a fairly productive player. LeBron would be feeding him wide open shots all night long. He'd be a nice floor spacer, no?

The defense and rebound, as I've said, is all about effort. Mike Brown would demand it, or else.

I still wouldn't of minded Chuck. I remember we were thinking about sign and trading for A.P., and if we did we would only miss Jamario. And with the emergence of Jawad, maybe we could of got away with him.

Just thinking out loud.

Villanueva is shooting 31% from three this year.

He's a streaky inconsistent shooter. Trust me, he'd be a headache.

Just got home from the Chicago/Detroit game and I must say, thank God CV didn't sign with the Cavs. Looking at his numbers in the box score show that he had a dreadful night, but that wasn't even the half of it. When playing the half court game, he would just sit in the paint waiting for a post up, where he would fail consistenly. Futhermore, his "stretch" abilities seemed to consist of sitting in the corner waiting for a pass, where he would ultimately pass back to the point.

The best numbers on his line looks to be his rebounds, but those were often because they fell directly on his bald head. Plus, he made Taj Gibson and Tyrus Thomas look like all-stars with his apathetic defense. Granted, the Pistons got blown out throughout the whole game, but if that is any indication, I would not want his terrible attitude in Wine and Gold during crunch time. All I can say is that No 'Brow Charlie is in the right place; I wouldn't pay this guy with Mark Cuban's money.
