Villanueva To Cleveland? - via Hoopsworld

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm under the suspicion that CV might be going to Detroit...

Yup. At 24, he will follow the $.

What a disappointment that would be after getting all excited about him being unrestricted, tweeting, etc. etc. :thumbdown

He would be an idiot if he left for money.

We dont know that for sure though, he might be smarter then we think. If he goes to Detroit then I hope he has fun on the bench :). If he understands what a two year deal for him with a player/team option would do for that would be great. If he thrives playing next to Shaq and Lebron he go head into a crowded FA market and likely get over-paid. If he doesnt turn out then he has job secured for him. Seems to smart of thinking though for a 24 year old. Prove us wrong!

If he does, then he is an idiot.

I would do the exact same thing -- go where I'm getting paid the most money. GMs treat players like they are tradeable assets -- with a business mindset. And there's not a single thing wrong with a player doing the same thing. This is a business, and Charlie should try to get as much money as he can.

Why would he be on the bench? Jason Maxiell would be the one coming of the bench.

I said that because of all the problems Detroit had last year with Rip going to the bench all of the trouble they had. I wouldnt be surprised this year if they ran into the same troubles, they are in transition sometimes you dont know were you'll end up.

There's been some rumors that the Pistons are open to making a trade, and Villaneuva has made comments about his playing time and place in rotation -- would we still be interested in trading for him?

He had his chance and blew it, just like Redd did. Let him rot on a mediocre team.

Screw him. I hope he suffers in Detroit for the rest of his hairless career.

No way. Fuck him! He had his chance.

You recent posters are obviously different from the ones who were posting back in June when almost everyone (there were some notable exceptions) was ecstatic about the possibility of landing CV. So he signed elsewhere for a bit more than the MLE. Maybe Detroit overpaid?

In a recent thread, trying to think outside the box, I suggested Detroit might be having buyer's remorse and might want to get rid of him. I certainly wasn't recommending the Cavs pursue him, but thought that with Detroit faltering and CV not being overly impressive, it was a possibility. Anyway, back in June many in RCF were pushing the Cavs to bring in a young player to add to the core, and unlike Jamison or even Murphy, CV qualifies as a young player. And for those who are now saying Jamison is too old -- what do you say about Villanueva?
