Charlie Villanueva Finished in Milwaukee
There's been a lot of speculation that the Milwaukee Bucks would opt to keep Charlie Villanueva instead of Ramon Sessions in the wake of landing Brandon Jennings in last week's NBA Draft. Today that speculation comes to an end, as Bucks GM John Hammond confirmed for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the team will not extend the qualifying offer necessary to make him a restricted free agent.
The Bucks have extended offers to both Sessions and Ersan Ilyasova, meaning they can match any offers, and they also feel that this will be the year that Ilyasova makes his mark on the NBA. The Bucks still have decisions to make about Bruce Bowen and Kurt Thomas, who were acquired in the Richard Jefferson trade last week. The belief is that Bowen will be back in San Antonio by the end of the week. Thomas is much more likely to be a part of the Bucks' roster going forward, backing up Amir Johnson in a best-case scenario, starting in front of him if Johnson doesn't prove to be ready to start.
The word is Villanueva will sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers . . .more on that as it becomes available.
