Villanueva To Cleveland? - via Hoopsworld

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Guys, don't worry about the 2010 summer. These dudes are superstars who want max money and max years, they will not just sign with another team for 5 years. If Bosh or Amare wanna leave, they will conduct a sign-and-trade. And the more people we sign now such as Villanueva, the more ASSETS we have to trade for a guy like Bosh. If Villa performs well for us this season, how attractive would a Villa, Hickson, West, Pick deal look to Toronto? Very.

I agree. Varejao seems fixed on being the long term starting piece on this team. I think he'd feel betrayed with the signing on Villy. But maybe he has a future at the C position? :dunno:

I know people here think Villanueva immediatly becomes the starter, but he has been pretty awful defensively. I think Varejao is the better player, and deserves more minutes than Villanueva. But then again, you obviously have to play the matchups and Varejao-Z and Villanueva-Shaq are the seemingly obvious pairings.

I guess just count me in the crowd of people who want Villanueva, but for the entire MLE (and how long?) and giving him a starting spot doesn't sound so appealing.

Also, what does re-signing Varejao and adding Villanueva, assuming both would be fairly long deals, mean for Hickson?

I dont know what to make of hickson... i want to like him i really do but it sounds to me like he isn't making the progress we thought he would so i guess if we re-sign andy and get CV hed be the odd man out... or we'd be really heavy on bigs (which isn't that bad an idea)

He's been hurt, while that should never be used as a positive, its a bit different than 'not making progress'. If, as we've been told, its not degenerative, he's a guy that could be developed into something pretty special, and I'm not a fan of the idea of him getting scrub minutes only.

Hickson would indeed be the loser if AV + CV are here next season.

The problem is, since we are trying to contend for a title, you can't rely on him right now to be the 4th big. He may not be ready...so Ferry almost has to make a move for a PF.

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing for Hickson though... he's injured and clearly needs some more development time after taking a step back last year. I think that having to rely on him for more minutes than he's ready for is something we should try to avoid. Getting another PF could end up being a win/win IMO.

Hicksons going to take some time to get his back in shape, before he can continue to work on his game. Might be alost summer for him anyway. And I like the idea of him and Eyenga tearing things up every night up in Erie, building up thier confidence. If they both end up Bayhawks, Id make the drive to go see them. Only about an hour or so drive from Lake county.

Benedict - I think it would be more than next season. Yeah, maybe you can make Varejao the 5 in the long-term, but it looks right now, assuming both guys are signed this offseason, that Hickson is the 3rd PF on the team for a while.

Lebronski - I really hope Hickson isn't in the D-League. That mean's he's definitely behind Jackson, and probably a Lorenzen Wright or Jawad Williams type-signing. Pops Mensah-Bonsu might have been the best big man to grace the NBADL last year (in all of 8 games). The best big man that Hickson would get to face down there? Courtney Sims, maybe? The Cavs need him to learn the skills necessary to play in the NBA, not continue to dunk on stiffs like he did in college.

Not sure if this was posted in here, hoopsworld wrote about CV to Cle again.

Charlie Villanueva Finished in Milwaukee

There's been a lot of speculation that the Milwaukee Bucks would opt to keep Charlie Villanueva instead of Ramon Sessions in the wake of landing Brandon Jennings in last week's NBA Draft. Today that speculation comes to an end, as Bucks GM John Hammond confirmed for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the team will not extend the qualifying offer necessary to make him a restricted free agent.

The Bucks have extended offers to both Sessions and Ersan Ilyasova, meaning they can match any offers, and they also feel that this will be the year that Ilyasova makes his mark on the NBA. The Bucks still have decisions to make about Bruce Bowen and Kurt Thomas, who were acquired in the Richard Jefferson trade last week. The belief is that Bowen will be back in San Antonio by the end of the week. Thomas is much more likely to be a part of the Bucks' roster going forward, backing up Amir Johnson in a best-case scenario, starting in front of him if Johnson doesn't prove to be ready to start.

The word is Villanueva will sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers . . .more on that as it becomes available.

Honestly, I just find myself confused in the future. I worry I won't be able to tell the difference between the basketball, Shaq's massive skull, or CV's shiny dome.

Sorry if this has been posted but I am playing 6 tables of online poker tournaments so I can't read throught the 8 pages of CV that has been posted today but here is an amazing Mo Williams Twat:

Has anyone confirmed that's really mo?

Only reason I would even think about sign & trading AV is that we could get a better wing out of it than a Parker or a Barnes..

But that would also mean we lose a key defensive big.. unless we get one back as part of the sign & trade

I'm sure Ferry has thought of all these possibilities
