Villanueva To Cleveland? - via Hoopsworld

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
:woot: W&G I love you some days! Then there are others that I get depressed because you break some bad news.

i know and trust me i want him here! Maybe i was reading into it wrong but the windhorst thread from today on STO was sayin that we may not want to make the investment...
maybe thats just my interpretation.

ACDC interpreted that way different than I. Windy said that he thought CV would be a good fit here..

I seriously do not understand why people want to S&T Andy away. I could see it if he goes batshit crazy and complaining and stuff with his agent. We had 4 bigs last season. Z has one season left, maybe two. Shaq's looking for three, but time will tell if that's feasible. Andy and CV would make a nice future core going forward with Andy at the 5 and CV at the 4.

Even for this season, as others have said, you can play CV at the 3 with Andy and Shaq/Z while LeBron is taking a breather. The fact is we need Andy's defense. At least until CV begins to show improvement enough to please Mike Brown and staff. A 4th big also protects the Cavs from a traumatic injury to Shaq/Z.

Personally, I think if there was some way to keep AV on the roster, CV and AV would be a pretty deadly 1-2 punch whether they're on the court together or not. You take CV out if he goes a little cold or has a couple brain farts on defense and then you've got a hustle guy in there to get everyone else hot again. As soon as AV tires out and we've gotten the lead back or extended it...here comes Charlie V to knock a few shots down from range.

You can't possibly have the same guy guarding CV that you do Varejao...unless you want to be the Cavaliers in the '09 ECF against the Magic.

All that alongside Shaq....

Sounds damn good to me.

I say it's more likely (if we get CV) that he pushes for a sign and trade...BUT I dunno. He may hope to just ride it out here and get a ring...and then get a big payday next year as a UFA. Personally, I'd like to sign-and-trade him for a bigger piece...but I think that may be unlikely...but as you say....who knows.

I agree. Varejao seems fixed on being the long term starting piece on this team. I think he'd feel betrayed with the signing on Villy. But maybe he has a future at the C position? :dunno:

I think it's a pretty good bet that Charlie Villanueva will be a Cavalier this coming season.

Of course, nothing is a done deal, until it's a done deal.

the Bucks could change their minds and decide to make a qualifier, or another team could step in and make a move for him that he prefers ... but, just knowing what I know on our end, and what seems to be the case on the Bucks and CV's end of things, it's looking more and more to me, like he is destined to become a Cavalier in the very near future.

And, I would like to add that he should be an absolute perfect fit between Lebron and Shaq at the PF position.

His youth, as well, is a very key component.

This has "perfect match" between team and player written all over it.

No with the Bucks passing on using the QO on him it seems like the road got a little easier. Not to mention his skills and size, the fact that we can sign a YOUNG starting PF for the MLE is almost unheard of. GREAT timing if this does occur.

I hope people realize that this will take us out of the running for Bosh or Amare in 2010.

That sucks, but as long as we can somehow get a young defensive minded center, this would be a good lineup for the future as well.

one thing i can't imagine if we get cv do you think we would still resign andy? i mean look at our bigs then: shaq, Z, cv, andy plus the 2 rookies (who should get some playing time as well). i just don't see how that would work there just aren't enough minutes available for all of those

Yes, let's put our championship hopes for the upcoming season on hold while we wait until the 2010 offseason to see if we have the SLIGHTEST chance at landing a big name star.

I think signing Charlie makes resigning AV every bit as important.

Why?

We would have four bigs with youth...which is very important considering both Shaq and Z could be gone after next year.

We would not have a high energy defensive minded stopper any longer at PF/C.

We wont have to rely on JJ or DJ to play any kind of significant minutes and will give them another year to mature and develop.

Andy and Z were basically our STARTERS this year, and worked fairly well together because it allowed Z to float around the 15-20 foot range and Andy to cut around the hoop like he does so well...and they would now be going against the second unit...that gives us a HUGE advantage. Sure they didn't match up well against the likes of Howard and Lewis, or Gasol and Odom...but I'm fairly sure going up the likes of the Gortats, Tony Batties, etc shouldnt put them in too many matchup problems.

Sure thats a lot of money to be tied up into the frontcourt, but we wont have, and wont be able to find anyone of his calibur to replace him.

Ok sorry guys I know this may be a stupid question but ive been out all day and havent gotten a chance to read anything today whats up, CV to be a cav? Did WG confirm it because i see a lot of happy posters it be great if someone could let me know. Thanks guys

While in a Dream Land I'd love to pick up Bosh next summer...

In Reality Land I'm sick and freaking tired of always 'waiting for next year'...

Get Charlie V. Bird in the hand and all that.

I hope you know that right now the salary is so messed up that there is no way to tell who will take us out of the running to get bosh.

BTW screw 2010 i want my championship now.
