Visiting the Q (from a land down under)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Didn't LBJ used to hang out at Barley House?

Nah.

Why does he hate Cleveland so much?

He doesn't at all. My point was when he's in town(Cleveland/Akron), he's usually at home with his family. When he goes out in Cleveland, it's usually in a private room at a restaurant like XO or Red. He doesn't do the bar/club scene in town. That stuff is only when he's on the road and he doesn't do it as much as he used too.

Lebron probably doesn't hit up bar/club scene much but I've heard from a bus driver I know who occasionally drives the Cavs that Kyrie is ALWAYS talking about hitting up the clubs and bars. :chuckle:

If I'm by mistaken, I think there was talk on this board about Kyrie's tendency to party a lot, which is weird because it doesn't really seem to be in Kyrie's personality, at least from what I've been able to gather.

Thanks for clearing that up @Maximus. By the sounds of it, looks like there was some confusion in the story I was told between his previous stint (and his "posse" as opposed to him) and his current stint. The story was at least partially accurate it seems - sounds like it may have been more like a case of Chinese whispers!

Thanks for the info @Simon - I gathered by his record that he certainly was considered a very reputable coach. Good to hear a first-hand account.

Yep. One of my coworkers personally saw kyrie out downtown 3 or 4 times the year before LBJ came back. Wasn't allowed to take pictures or anything, and security confiscated someone's phone in the club who took a pic of Kyrie in the VIP section.

And let's not forget Kevin and Kyrie's drunk rap session in the car after they were at that club in Brazil earlier this year. :shakehead: :hihi:

I went to Stow almost 25 years ago and he was coaching at the time. He had some really solid teams there who battled with really good teams from Kent Roosevelt, Cuyahoga Falls, Barberton, etc. The staple of his teams were depth and full court press. It was relentless and all game long. They would just freak teams out and go on 15 point runs if they didn't have at least a couple of good ball handlers.

I went to Stow. Coach Close is a heck of a coach. His offensive style is meh, but his teams always played great defense. He's a pretty nice guy too.

He coached a kid that plays at Northeastern. No.4 David Walker who played really well against Notre Dame in the tourney.

Coach Close also has one of the top point guard prospects (I think he was ranked No.9 in the freshman class -- not sure) in Ohio on the team.

Was able to go out to the reef today @CavsSimmy. So happy boats went out today. It was really impressive. I need to get dive certified and come back. Last night down under tonight. 10/10 would come back. Also was able to keep up w the Cavs through RCF and BallStreams. Good time to be alive.

That's awesome man! Congrats! I've actually never done the Reef myself if I'm being honest. What was it like?
Where you heading off to next? When you come back, come to Melbourne - I'd love to show you around!
Unfortunately outside of League Pass/BallStream there's not a lot of NBA on TV down here - but great that you've been able to stay apprised.

I was originally going to do two days and one night in the reef and do some intro dives, but due to the cyclone I could only do the day snorkel trip. But even that was great. They take you to shallow reefs and as long as you can hold your breath for 40 sec or so, you can free dive from the snorkel just as deep as the intro divers. They only go 8 meters on the into. It's much cheaper to snorkel too. You can see most everything fine from the surface. I heard from people that if you are certified and can do the night dives, it's incredible. The predators come out and you get to see some crazy colors. You can get certified in Cairns but it's expensive. Better to do at home. It was very cool and you should get certified and go! I swam underwater right next to a big ass sea turtle. It was cool!

I am headed back to CLE today. I could only get 2 weeks off work. I should have taken a month. But luckily got to the reef my last day. I want to come back and dive the reef again, see Melbourne, New Zealand and maybe Tazzy. It will be at least a few years but I'll be sure to let you know if I come back!

I think you got fed a porky, Simmy.

During Lebron's first stint, his posse made some dumb mistakes, like not tipping well and acting like they were doing establishments favors by just being there. I witnessed it first hand and it was embarrassing because i knew a lot of the people who worked at, managed and owned the establishments. In Lebron's defense, i don't think he knew it was happening in many cases. Rich and Randy were always the one's responsible for picking up the tabs, etc.

That said, they've matured a lot. They are pretty smart cats and have learned from their many mistakes. Lebron hates bad PR. i can guarantee you this, that unless there was some incident or extraordinary set of circumstances - Lebron would NEVER refuse to pay a bill. That story sounds like a complete utter crock of shit. I'm also 99% certain that there hasn't been a single time in Cleveland where Lebron, Kevin and Kyrie have been in a bar/club together at the same time. Lebron is a homebody when he's home in Cleveland and avoids the bar/club scene like the plague. Those 3 just don't hang out together when they are in Cleveland. I could never see the 3 of them hanging at a club or bar here in town...not that they don't like each other, it's just not something i could ever see happening.

I can be one of Lebron's bigger critics and i could write a book of stories about him and his crew, but that one above sounds like pure fiction.
Funny to stumble across this post after reading the Kevin Love thread.

I feel like we as fans feel its so important for key players on our teams to be best friends. But does that really even matter? Do any of you guys feel like the people you work with are your best and closest friends? Or even that your closest friends at work are your closest peers? I remember reading that Kevin Love's closest friend with the Twolves was their trainer or equipment manager, can't remember.

On top of that, does anyone here feel like they have to be best friends with the people they work with to really enjoy your job and do it well? I really really like the people I work with, we have a great time when we are at work, and we kick it at night when we travel for work...

...and I don't do a single thing with them socially outside of the normal work day. Not one single thing.

Sorry for the sidebar, and sorry to junk up your thread Simmy. :D Just thought it was relevant.

Simmy - Thought you might be interested in this. It was tweeted out by Fear the Sword and apparently is a cover for Cleveland Scene.

Sorry man, just saw this now! Haha I think I got wind of this on Twitter myself - it's safe to say that this photo embodies the majority of my trip to Cleveland - I love it!

Funny little fact: in the original album cover, Bizzy Bone (Kevin Love has replaced him in this image) was actually wearing a Celtics branded tee (I know, I frown on this every time I think about it). Obviously for the sake of this Photoshop, that needed to be edited :chuckle:

@CavsSimmy

can I ask you an inoordinate amount of questions about australia?
