If it were me, since we already passed on trading him last deadline, I would try to get it done before the season starts.
I say just go ahead and Sign and Trade Wally for Linas Kleiza. Not only can he help out, but Toronto was also interested before they blew their wad on Hedo. So down the line, Linas could be tradeable?
Or would you wait, hold onto Wally for something else?

Why would Denver do that? Why wouldn't they just keep Kleiza or let him go if they want to save money?

Well right now Klieza counts as 2.7 on thier cap. And if he dosent get an offer, then they got to pay up. Walter can be bought. I think he owes us that much at least.

The Raptors can not sign anyone to the MLE. They were under the cap, teams that are under the cap do not get that exception since they have to the room to sign someone

I don't know what wally's market value is but I can't believe it is more than $2-3 million or so. Could the Cavs sign wally to say a 2 year deal for maybe $6-7 million but only guarantee $2 million in the second year? Combined with the non-guranteed contracts of JW and TK that would give the Cavs roughly $9-10 million in trading leverage. It's a good deal for Wally since it is more than he would otherwise get and a good deal for someone who is trying to move a $10 million multiply year contract (Another thread mentioned G-Force and that thought this would be a way to get him).

One rumor floating around had the Cavs sending guard/forward Wally Szczerbiak and forward/center J.J. Hickson to Charlotte for forward Gerald Wallace in a sign-and-trade.

The Cavs hold Hickson in high regard, but Wallace is a stud defender. He also has four years and almost $40 million left on his contract. The Cavs might not want to take on that kind of contract with 2010 looming. That’s one reason it might not add up.

Wallace has been injured and his contract is long. The Bobcats would get cap relief next season and a young/upcoming PF.

Well they get a young, talented PF with great upside and a one year player to dump salary with next season (as you eluded to) while getting rid of a guy they might see as injury prone and signed for too long. It's simply a set up for the future.



I think it was Brother Red that alluded to us trying to sign Frye with the rest of the MLE and the BAE.

How would you see him fitting in? Too small for PF and too poor of a shooter for SG.

thats wrong. they signed at traded for hedo making them have the MLE.


anyways, on realgm i read suns would take wally 1 year expiring for jason richardson. now i dont want jason richardson at all, but could we work a 3 way getting us a solid shooting PF?
im sure jason richardson is a pretty attractive piece, just not for us.

ill think of some ideas later.
