I mean, the "switchable wing" who fits that ideal in this draft was Scottie Barnes. So should Koby have passed on Mobley to take Barnes
Oh, this past draft was a home run aside from not getting back in somehow. Mobley's ability is exactly what they need. He is long, challenges all five positions defensively... give me four more!
The problem is the prior three drafts. We don't have anyone besides Clarkson who can penetrate? How about an undersized scoring guard! Wait he isn't a point guard... let's take another undersized scoring guard who should be a better passer and a shooting guard who might be mentally disturbed! Oh, our perimeter defense is a mess... let's take this shooting guard who is almost long enough to be a wing!
And as much as people are pissed about Windler's development... that was absolutely the right pick. The problem with his selection is they only did it once. If the Cavs save a few second rounders along the way, they roll the dice on a developmental wing more than just one time. Everyone gives the Kings shit, and for years they deserved it... but the past two drafts they take cheap second round swings on swingmen to develop. That's exactly how you solve the lack of switchable wings and it's eventually going to pay off.
