Week 15: Bengals (8-4) @ Browns (7-6) | 1:00 p.m. | FOX

Whelp.

Sigh. I really wanted to get to 8-8 this year but I guess what is the point?

You do realize I am referring to the early portion of the game where they were calling read-option out of the pistol as opposed to handing the ball off to a RB in a traditional formation and using stretch plays to take advantage of the zone blocking scheme, thus allowing Manziel to, perhaps, throw the ball utilizing playaction... yes?

They didn't do it one single time in the first two drives and they've been buried ever since. Manziel has played like dogshit. It's his own doing. But there is no excuse to run this fucking offense in a pistol formation in week 15 when they haven't done it all year. On top of that, going 5-wide and having Manziel run the ball up the middle on the first drive was the most predictable call I have seen since Shurmur was in charge.

I'd imagine you're going to continue seeing basic concepts until Manziel actually has a better grasp of the playbook.

There's been a mix of running from the pistol and more traditional formations, neither have been overly successful.

The biggest takeaway here is that you can expect more creativity when they can't execute basic.

This is probably the best thing that could happen for Johnny today. Get your ass kicked, realize that you have to put in the time like Hoyer did. Be a pro. Lose out, get that 7-9 draft pick, practice all offseason.

I hope we aren't the ones to give him a chance. He clearly has no work ethic. All of the people who knocked him. Everything they said was right.

It's not basic concepts I am upset about. It's an overhaul of the offensive scheme. I mean, didn't Shannahan just allude to not making any drastic changes? Throwing in a formation that the team hasn't run since the preseason is a drastic change. I would have LOVED to see some quick screens to Gordon in those first two series. Doesn't get any more basic than that. Instead, Shanny tries to get cute and has Manziel run the ball up the middle in a five wide, and the Bengals sat on it. He also has Manziel run a read option on second down where Manziel completely makes the wrong read and ends up losing 8 or 9 yards on the play. I would have loved a basic run up the middle for three yards to make it 3rd and 2 instead of 3rd and 14 or whatever it ended up being (PS, catch the fucking ball Hawkins).

This team was not ready to play today. On either side of the ball.

I blame FOX for our loss. CBS has been our lucky charm :p ... out of curiosity why is an all AFC game coming in Fox?

Manziel doesn't even know the damn playbook. He is an embarrassment. I hope we don't waste next season on him.

But...we are the ones who are giving him a chance.... :conf (5):

lol how do you allow that garbage time TD? Just no pride on this team. Jesus.

We gave up 245 rusing yards today.

I'd take a 3rd for Johnny at this point. What has he been doing for the last 13 games? It's remarkable that he hasn't learned the playbook in that time.

I'm not gonna jump to conclusions but I'd be willing to "Richardson" Johnny over to a team like the Cowboys.
