So frustrating watching the Blazers. Nets getting anything they want on offense in the 4th. Luckily a couple bounces/deflections go the Blazers way to help them go on an 8-0 run. Blazers ball up 1 with 15.1 seconds to go.

EDIT: McCollum misses one...only up 2, Nets ball with 11 seconds. I have zero faith in the Blazers to successfully defend this possession, just hope Nets mess up.

LET'S GO!

But this game was in the Nets' hands, and there are going to be a lot of times they win games like this as the season goes on. And we can add Clippers to the tank list along with SAC, DAL, CHI, and ATL. Maybe even PHX. I think it is more likely the Nets pick falls between 6-9 than 1-5 unfortunately...they have no incentive to lose games.

The Blazers did everything they could to give that game away. Pathetic FT shooting by them to close the game.

Nets really deserved to win, but that is a pretty deflating result for them so I'll take it.

People really have to stop saying this...

Sadly true. Still struggling to see the optimism for this being top 3-5. Unless something breaks their spirit midseason I can't see this team losing more games than teams that are actually trying to lose games. I'll continue to expect the worst and hope for the best

Why? they are much better than you give them credit for. Your prediction for them ocming into the season was way off. Their record should be better, especially if they were fully healthy.

even if they finish with a top 5 worst record, that's more luck than anything.

This is going to be a mad house real soon when the Mavs + 2 Hawk games come up.

Exactly...and as Cavs fans, things couldn't have gone much "better" for us. Lin out for the season, Russell out an extended (indefinite) amount of time...if someone told me those two things would happen before the season started, I would have easily pegged the Nets as having a bottom three record, if not the worst. But even after all that, this team continues to find ways to compete. Players like Dinwiddie, LeVert, and Kilpatrick are not bad either and underrated for sure...add to them young vets like Booker, Carroll, and Crabbe and a great coach in Atkinson, and you can see how they're able to compete. At this point, hopefully they begin losing games simply due to fatigue from their super high pace or a broken spirit from losing some of these close games. But I do not think the latter will happen...

There's 60+ games left to play. They've lost 12 of their last 15

Just because they are capable of being in games doesn't mean they're going to win a bunch.

There's nothing to suggest this team won't be in the 3-6 range when the season is over. If the pick holds true to slot, it's a great pick. And there wasn't a Kyrie trade that could have yielded a better one.

And as an unprotected pick, if the a lot is out of the top3, there's still the chance it jumps into the top3

But anyone who thought the Kyrie trade was only worth it or or the best value they could get based solely on the Nets pick having to be #1 or #2 or solely based on the ability to pick a specific prospect is not being realistic.

Sure, picks 1-3 would be incredible to get but 4-6 is still huge and just part of the overall package we got for a guy demanding a trade and determined to do whatever necessary to get out of town.

The “they have no incentive to lose” is what I said needs to stop.

They’ve had no incentive to lose the last 3 years, hasn’t stopped them from losing a shit ton of games.

And they’re on pace to win 24 games right now...would have been the 3rd highest lotto odds last year.

Yeah...they sure are making me eat my words that they’re a bad team...get out of here...

Yeah, the no incentive to lose thing assumes tanking happens on a player level, which it doesn't. Players are going to go out there and try to win.

However, the Nets, unlike bad teams we've seen in the past, have adapted nicely to today's style. They do play their asses off every game, and they shoot a ton of threes.

Both Durant and draymond sitting out tonight vs. Chicago. Would be nice if Chicago could take advantage (they won't).

I genuinely think if Durant played for the Bulls for the game and Draymond sat out that the Warriors still pretty easily win
