Welcome 8th Pick from Brooklyn

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Meaningless poll, but lets play....where will the pick end up after the lottery?

Fuck.
Nets look great.

I tried tellin you all... the Net's will compete for a playoff spot. They have zero incentive to tank. As a team of misfits, all of their guys are hungry to prove themselves. The players seem to be buying into the coach so they'll play hard for him every night. They remind of that 8th seed sixers team under Doug Collins.

They will win less than 30 games. The Browns went 4-0 in preseason this year. They may not be the worst because the NBA has a bunch of garbage but they are going to be one of the worst 3-4 teams.

People STILL think you can garner one iota of information from preseason?

I had to look at heir last year score, to stop fearing for our finals trip. LoL... They added 10 wins in their last 20 games, when everyone was slipping including us.
They might do better than we desire, but teams like this tend to die off quickly, real playoff condidates should feel obligated to beat them and not that many are truly worse than they are (advanced stats summa etc).

We still have to draft the right player no matter where they land.

It isn't just from pre-season though. They looked a competent team at the back end of last season once Lin returned. They've also added genuine NBA talent like Russell, Carroll & Crabbe. LeVert is also a very good promising young player.

Like I've been telling you guys, Nets are one of the best coached teams in the League & play a Spurs/Warriors style of basketball. With more genuine shooters, playmakers & ball handlers in Atkinson's system they'll be a more cohesive & effective unit this season.

We just gotta hope they'll be terrible defensively again this year.

The Nets are just blitzing garbage units filled with guys that will never see the floor in the regular season.

Lin is the only thing they have that I even worry about slightly.

If he stays healthy and plays 70+ games for them, I think they're probably the 5th worst team.....maybe they luck into 6 or 7th or 8th in the absolute worst case scenario.

This year is a deeper and better draft than 2017...Malik Monk and a Dennis Smith both went after pick #8. Trade is not a failure regardless.

If Lin gets hurt(he will) or traded for an asset(they should...they can't re sign him to big money...and after this year they are going to want to get at least 1-2 lottery picks of their own so they'll be back to tanking)...then they're bottom 3.

Can't believe someone said they're a playoff contender. L M F A O...

Yeah not worried about Brooklyn. Lin will go down with his annual injury and they will look like shit as usual.

The issue with the Nets is they don't have to be all that great to shove this pick out of the top five -- there are six or seven really sucky teams this year, and the Nets are the only one of them that is really trying/not tanking. If they finish with 30 wins that might be all it takes. We're talking about a team that finished 11-13 after the all-star break last year, when Jeremy Lin returned. If they can avoid anything like the horrific 2-32 stretch they posted up last year when Lin was out they can easily make the move from horrible to just bad.

We ought to be scanning the league for a high all-star level/superstar level player we can add using this pick because without such an addition we probably aren't beating this Warriors team without an extra high-level player, this year or the next couple of years.

The draft is so deep and talented that even a top 8 pick is a magnificent asset and could fetch a magnificent young player.

I just don't think there's going to be many all-stars available mid-season. And the 1-2 guys they might be available, aren't even necessarily good fits.

I think the Cavs have a better chance of turning the pick into an all star by either drafting a guy or trading it on draft night.

By February, we'll have a decent idea of where the Nets pick will land. So the pick is literally likely going to have the same value during the season as in the offseason.

I'd be kind of shocked if they didn't move Lin for a 1st (or a young player) at some point. If they combined Booker and Lin in a trade they could probably get something decent. I'd actually love Lin for Shump, though i'm assuming the Cavs would have to include Cedi or the Cavs 1st.

Yeah, he doesn't fit their age profile. On the other hand, they need someone around for the rookies to learn from and get some kind of experience winning. He's not perfect for that but last year showed he has some real leadership capacity (see their record with and without him). Obviously if they dump Lin that would be great for us.

We can't really tell how things will turn out, it could all go well for us and they could suck, I just don't see it as as much of a sure thing as others seem to.

On the bright side, even a top 8 pick is still a great trade asset. A similar pick could have landed us a Butler or George type player this offseason so there's plenty reason to stay optimistic

Here are the 6-8 picks the last 3 years drafts: 15' Willey Caley Stein, Emmanuel Mudiay, Stanley Johnson. 16' Buddy Heild, Jamal Murray, Marquese Chriss. 17' John Isaac, Lauri Markkanen, Frank Ntilinka.
With that said lets not act like this pick is a sure-fire star. Even if this hyped class is as advertised, Lebron will be long gone (retired or over the hill) by the time the pick is a star, IF he is a star. Funny how i wouldn't take any of these guys over Cousins yet so many of you think this pick is gold. I would take Cousins over all of those guys combined. WIN NOW. TRADE THE PICK!
