One thing is constant with OKC. They don't draft undersized players in their positions. Size matters in the game of basketball and we currently have a very small team Kyrie being the only exception. TT is undersized, Tyler is undersized, Dion is undersized, and Bennett is freaking small. That is four picks of undersized players.

If you had been watching Cavs basketball, then you would know that TT and Bennett have no trouble whatsoever doing a respectable to great job guarding pretty much any power forward and even a lot of centers. Bennett was holding Vucevic (pretty fucking large center) out of the post in the Orlando pregame and forcing him to take bad shots. I don't even have to defend TT. The guy speaks for himself, and any other vet poster here will tell you that TT has no trouble defending the four. Also, with a 9'0.5" standing reach and a low center of gravity, he's been doing fine. Not to mention that most sources say that he's grown to around 6'10".

Also, Dion has shown that his strength can make up for his lack of height. 6'7" Joe Johnson was man handled on opening night by Dion's hounding defense.

And why are you bitching about our 3rd-string center being undersized? Who cares about Tyler? :chuckles: It's not like he's our future at center.

It doesn't matter how big you are. It all comes down to how well you can play offensively and defensively at your position. So far, no one's size has been holding them back.

People keep saying we need to give Bennett the ball on the block, but he was relatively ineffective posting up in college. Unless he's expanded his arsenal of post moves significantly since last season, I can't imagine that he'll be able to score efficiently against NBA defenders.

I'd like to see Kyrie/Jack/Waiters dump the ball down to him and clear out letting Bennett face-up and try to drive by the defender. I think the those saying they want Bennett to get on the ball on the block just want him to try something different than a 3pt shot.

He also actually needs to put himself on the block if that's where he wants it. He sets a pick, and 10 times out of 10, he's popping out to the 3-point line. If people would like to see him get the ball in the paint more, then he should probably start to roll once in a while.

Oh yeah, I love the idea of Bennett getting the ball rolling toward the basket. He's hard to stop when he has a head of steam like that. What I don't like is the idea of dumping it down to him in a 1-on-1 situation in the low post and asking him to go to work. Ideally I'd like to see him get the ball 15-20 feet out where he can either can the jumper or take one quick dribble and finish strong at the rim.

Bennett actually established very deep post position last game to where I think he could have just muscled in a basket. Of course CJ caught the ball running off a screen and you know he is always looking to fire one off in that situation regardless if it is a good look or not and completely ignored Bennett.

I think if you look early in this thread there was a post that showed his UNLV vert was 39 (CG said it) and when added to his standing reach makes him have a max reach on par with most NBA pf.

On that missed layup last game his vert was 3.9

I saw a lot of David West in AB against the Pacers. When he's physical, he can be a force but also has that smooth finesse game. It took West a while before putting it all together but I thought I saw a lot of similarities between the two players.

Don't play him until he gets in shape/recovers from injury

He is embarrassing himself and hurting the team whenever he plays. He can't score, he can't dribble, and he can't hustle. The only thing he is doing is taking up space and even then he is scared to put his hands up whenever someone drives into the lane.

I am still not ready to write Bennett off, but what on earth is wrong with his game?

What I want to know is who was projecting he could ever play minutes at the 3 in the NBA?

The guy can't handle the ball, at all. His dribbling is a disaster area. He hasn't played well, but the complete inability to handle the ball has been shocking to me for a guy who was purported to be a 4 that could play some extended minutes at the 3. I just don't see those skills in his game.

Old school thanks to anyone that puts together an Anthony Bennett low-light reel to Benny Hill music.

Might as well have fun with it...

Every time he gets the ball, this keeps popping up in my head.

Everyone is going to be completely ignoring Bennett until he actually does something. If I were out there, I wouldn't be giving him the ball either.

How long can this go on before we get him some D-league time? Might completely crush his confidence though...

Not an option. It would be embarrassing to both Bennett and the organization, and that is not a good look for anyone.
