Welcome Deron Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Deron fits in with the second unit so well. He's a big, strong , physical point guard. He crashes the glass and is a very good picknroll player.

Plus another 35% 3-point shooter (this season and career)... he will get many open looks on the Cavs

A motivated Deron Williams is easily the best backup point guard in the league.

I'm interested to see how his defense looks on this team in the postseason. I know he's a half-step slower, but he's had bouts of being a very good defender in the league.

It isn't official yet. Bro why you jinx? :chuckle:

This is an unbelievable pick up. Things literally couldn't have worked out better. A great shooter and passer, can handle the ball and set people up. Exactly what we need. This is crazy. He fits on so many levels. I'm getting excited, it is starting to become real.

The one thing I'm curious on is his defense. It doesn't really matter because we aren't asking him to be a good defender or anything, it is just that I'm personally not aware of how good he is defensively. If he is solid on defense too, that would be a pleasant surprise.

Just having somebody with a legit handle in the second unit is going to elevate this team so quickly, I cannot wait. This is beyond what the doctor ordered. Deron Williams has got skills!

The lineup with Kyrie, Deron and LeBron playing is going to be literally impossible to guard.

I can see it already, you use Kyrie as the decoy, have Deron bring the ball up and LeBron comes off the back pick, or he cuts diagonally to the hoop and tears the fucking rim off.

We also added Kyle Korver who can single handedly win you a critical game like Klay did to OKC. Shooting better than 50% plus he's BIG.

Do you have any idea how hard it is going to be to guard us with Korver AND JR on the court?

There could be three fucking legitimate ball-handling wizards with that lineup too.

Haven't even mentioned Kevin Love, Channing, Richard, Derrick, or Shumpert yet.

Someone in the Deron safari thread posted some defensive numbers of Deron... he has actually been pretty solid this season

Williams isn't super tall. He's about 6' 2" barefoot. He's not short, but he's not a giant, either.

What gives him his "size" is his bulk. I'm not sure what he weighs right now, but in the past he was like 220 lbs. That's freaking huge for a 6' 2" basketball player. You're talking like a LeBron-sized point guard in terms of muscle mass.

Guys will not be able to muscle him around. And he should be able to muscle around Lil Steph.

This would be the dream offseason next year:

Korver re-signs with Bird Rights
Deron re-signs for the vet min
Derrick Williams/Cedi split the Taxpayer MLE
Bogut or Sanders signs for vet minimum

Yep. We have 4 guys to re-sign (assuming we get Bogut/Sanders) this summer. Korver should be a lock with the Bird rights.

The good thing with DWill and DWill, and Bogut I think, is they're still getting paid from other teams. That makes things a lot easier on their pocketbooks.

For this year yes, but they were all on the last years of their deals.

Friggin Livingston surely will have his problems posting up Deron like he did with Delly
