Welcome Deron Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Someone in the Deron safari thread posted some defensive numbers of Deron... he has actually been pretty solid this season

Good to hear for this season.

I know he's lost a step, but in the past he's been a damn good defender when motivated.

Deron Williams has a standing reach of 8'2 according to Draft Express, and he is solidly built. Felder has a standing reach of 7'4.5. Nearly an extra foot of disrupting reach will be crucial closing out on three point shooters.

This is the greatest Cav team, by far, ever assembled. Fuck GS, we are repeating.

Remember the Larriors "strength in numbers" slogan, not only we have real strength in numbers and they have a 7 player playoff rotation, our top players are better than their top players, we should even be Vegas favorites after these moves to be honest, Cavs in 6.

SportVU - Isolation Defense

Shumpert - 26% FG, .64 PPI, .81 TPPI
Williams - 32.7% FG, .72 PPI, .88 TPPI
Smith - 40% FG, .75 PPI, .90 TPPI

SportVU - On Ball Defense

Williams - 505 screens, 0.78 PPP, 1.05 TPPP, 41.4% FG
Shumpert - 593 screens, 0.86 PPP, 1.07 TPPP, 45.9% FG

Friggin Livingston surely will have his problems posting up Deron like he did with Delly

D Will Sr. is one of the best post-up defenders in the league, period. 0.66 PPP given up to opposing players (90th percentile).

He himself is also one of the best post-up players in the league on offense as well. 1.03 PPP, 83rd percentile.

That's always been his strength. Dude is a bully, which fits in with our "bully ball" playstyle in the post season.

Comparison. Height is barefoot from DraftExpress.

Kyrie -------> 6' 1.75"...............191 pounds.................6' 4.00" WS.................8' 3" SR
Deron ------> 6' 1.75"...............209 pounds?...............6' 6.25" WS.................8' 2" SR

This would be the dream offseason next year:

Korver re-signs with Bird Rights
Deron re-signs for the vet min
Derrick Williams/Cedi split the Taxpayer MLE
Bogut or Sanders signs for vet minimum
I don't know what Deron will command after this year considering I expect him to tear it up, but it would be awesome if we could get him to stick around for a couple more years. Same with Bogut or whoever we get. It would get annoying looking for a new backup PG and center every year. Get Korver locked up for 3-4 more years to finish his career here. This would be a great group. Especially considering they should all be on terrific contracts.

I want Derrick to be here for the future too as LBJ's back up SF. If we could get him on a close to a minimum contract, that would be great. And Cedi could contend for that backup SF spot as well. Nice having some youth. I thought Cedi could sign on a 2nd round rookie contract, but I guess that isn't how it works? Either way, he should be cheap too.

Now imagine all that if we can lock up a really solid bench on cheap contracts. That gives us a lot of breathing room financially. And I wish Frye was making closer to 3 mil instead of 7 mil, but even still, it is all good. He is expiring the year after that. We would virtually have our whole bench on min/MLE type cheap contracts and that is hard to do in this CBA. At least for a bench that good. It could give us way more flexibility to be aggressive with TPE's and MLE's too.

Exciting stuff fellas. Can play him next to Kyrie also because of his size. I bet Lebron is excited as hell.

Things are so much easier now for LeBron with D-Will and D-Will on board.

* Another ball handler and play-maker
* Someone to guard 1-4 and let LeBron rest on defense
* Both guys let LeBron rest more (as PG and just get off the court, period, with Derrick able to play SF)

These two signings are gigantic for LeBron. Massive. Especially if both guys stick around for next year's regular season.
