Welcome Deron Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm hoping he changes his mind and stays. I think two things might sway him:

- Gets to keep playing with Korver, his friend
- Gets to compete for rings every year

Deron is a proud guy. But backing up Kyrie is no shame.

I'm hoping that he decides to stick around. If he does, the only spot on the roster we may need to fill over the summer is backup center.
Has there been word out that he does want to leave? Has he said he is unhappy with his Role?

No. I'm just going back to comments he made when he signed. Kind of hinting that he's ok being a back up "for now," and things like that. Also we can't offer him much money.

Hopefully being with this team has really opened up his mind to staying.

He wants that ring

And revenge on media for throwing dirt on his grave

To be fair, he did play dead and has been for a long time. The media has to move on some time (unless it's the Warriors. Then they can do no wrong).

Livingston just kills backup PGs: big underrated advantage for the Dubs. He either posts a bunch of them up or shoots over them allowing them to continuously create mismatches even when they're starters are out.

Will be nice having Deron around because he'll put a lot of pressure on Livingston and he's got the size to not be as bothered by him like other points

Agreed. Livingston still has a height advantage but Williams is a really strong guy. He has the strength to be able to keep Livingston from posting and can also keep him off the boards.

Are you sure you want one of your players competing in a sport featuring leg locks targeting your knee and ankle ligaments, upper body submissions designed to break your arm, etc.?

I find it scary just to read a description of heel hooks.

At least he'll be able to compete with Kelly Olynyk, I guess.
I assume he means after he retires. There’s no way any team will allow him to do this while he’s under contract.

Especially when you consider two things:

1. Kyrie is going to miss 10-12 games a year.

2. T. Lue is not afraid to bench the starters in games and give you the keys to the car.

Sorry if I missed something here, change his mind about what? Has Deron said anything about not wanting to be here next year?

Deron is playing amazing ball for us. He has an assists to turnover ratio of over 3 and is sporting a TS of .679. His win shares per 48 is over .2. This is the guy we envisioned.

I think people forget because of the last few years that this guy was the consensus 2nd best PG in the league for the better part of a decade. His decline happened because of the injuries, which in turn resulted in him falling out of shape.

Well, now he's healthy and in the best shape of his career... AND he gets to do most of his work against the opponents' 2nd unit while sharing the floor with the best player in the world and two world-class shooters. We saw how good Delly was in that role, and, not to take anything away from Delly, now we get to see an actual good player in that role.

Ya, he said after he retires that will compete and that his MMA coach makes sure to train with him carefully. His MMA gym that he opened in Dallas is very nice

Having a true former star player leading the Team of the bench is super great. Anything that he can't do is because he is older or injuries took away, but his mentality is not of a career backup and that brings something extra. Also RJ, he was once quite good and it shows, the things he can still do are reflecting his former self (same goes for DW).

There were a few articles which stated DWill wanted to finish his career in Salt Lake City with the Jazz, a place where he own two homes, including one that George Hill currently is living in.

Hopefully things have changed in the two months since he's been here.

A combination of winning at the highest level and chance for a ring every season, the role etched out for him as the season unfolded, and the comradery of the guys(including good friend Kyle Korver getting resigned) all these considered and combined just may created a scenario where signing back with Cleveland becomes a plausible scenario.

All I know is he's the perfect fit here, and by far the best backup pg to ever suit up with Lebron.

Hypothetically let's say DWill does return and without question it would take the full mid level (tax paying) to bring him back... Where would that leave a move over to the states for Cedi Osman realistically from a financial perspective? I know the Cavs own his rights, but in assuming not his bird rights, correct? Osman would have to sign for the minimum if the mid level was spent on another player, am I on point who that? Would be great if we actually earned Osman's bird rights, and you bring back DWill without question of its at the expense of bringing Osman stateside.

The other player which looks likely to leave because of no $ available to keep him is Derrick Anderson. Would LOVE to somehow keep him as his youth, energy and athleticism is a perfect fit with this roster moving forward trying to keep everyone healthy. The only prayer in keeping Williams on a 1 year vet minimum deal is to sell him on his future role and compensation lying ahead for him. With cap constantly rising, a mid level compensation his second year would be nothing to sneeze at, and once there's financial room we could lock him up, all in time for these next generation of Cavs and their window opens. The fact Williams only being 26 intrigues me, and if they were so who's s or to keep him together with the same ages Kyrie/Love/ Shumpert younger players... It would be advantageous for everyone. Pipe dream I know.

Speaking of pipe dreams... The last thing I'd like to mention along them lines is the Chris Bosh situation. If the Cavs Dr's clear him... There is a very distinct possibility we could see Bosh in a Cavs uniform next season, limited capacity or not.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

He's the best offensive back up the Cavs have had since a young Terrell Brandon.

I hope they can re-sign him to go through a full training camp with this group.
