We don't need someone to lock him down or even be truly effective against him. Just someone who will slow him down and not get abused. RJ and TT have been abused by him all series. Shump, JR, and even Love have had good moments on Durant and we just need another guy in the mix to take the pressure off LeBron so he isn't completely drained in the 4th quarter.

I don't think Derrick would have had to give more than a couple minutes playing decently on Durant tonight to change the outcome of the game.

Honestly though with how Derrick played early on with his energy and athleticism I am a bit surprised he vanished after the Deron signing and JR returning... I felt he gave the team a needed dimension and running him out there vs Durant at times wouldn't have been a bad idea .. Ultimately it may have not mattered but he definitely has the physical attributes

Lue is dogmatic in his player assessments. He'll run RJ out there in a wheelchair before he'll think outside the box of his locked in low opinion of Derrick Williams.

So we'll never know if Derrick might have helped, and as a result I assume he will leave to go play for a head coach who will at least give him a chance. I would if I were him.
