If the Cavs win it all, what is the Ferry plan, after July 1st?

Now, this doesn't seem to bother me at this point, but once the season has been decided, it's time to ask the next step.

If they didn't win it all, you'd almost be sure that LeBron would request a move to get better again, maybe another important future piece or a big time guy.

But would LeBron's opinion be heard to still improve beyond the success if they won?

If the Cavs do win the championship, what types of moves would be be target first and foremost? Obviously work on acquiring needs through the draft, and resigning another need with a reasonable price. But after Andy and draft, what?

1. Sign Gortat with the MLE. (Back up plan Zaza with part of the MLE)
2. Offer Kidd the LLE- we just won a championship, he wants a ring- see if he takes it.
3. Wait for the best possible deal with Ben Wallace to open up.

Also, you can include looking to trade Sasha to a team looking for financial relief at the expense of picks/prospects.

ZOMG! Count all these chickens!!

1.) Re-Sign Andy (no more than $8 M per)
2.) Backup PG - preferably Kidd, who can allow Boobie to be a strictly spot up shooter, and also mentor him in ball control, if need be
3.) Young backup big man - Need to start preparing for life w/out Z - somebody who can come off the bench for 1, maybe 2 years, then be ready to step in
4.) Trade Sasha to move up in draft or to fulfill either 2 or 3
5.) Field offers for Ben's expiring

Where we're drafting now, it's possible, but not likely we get somebody who can step in as our starting center in 1 or 2 years, so that may have to come through FA (Gortat?)

I would like for us to go for our needs via Free Agency, that way we have more options for our picks in the draft

Re-sign Andy, sign Kidd with BAE or vet's min, and use the MLE on young guy (Childress, Ariza, and Gortat all seem like great but unlikely options). Then use pieces like Ben, Sasha, Picks, and possibly JJ, etc. to make a package for a big man + filler.

My dream offseason would be championship+Andy+Kidd+Gortat+Amare/Barnes through trade... which = DYNASTY! Or at least that's what I'm dreaming at the moment, won't be long before I flip back to Chris Bosh or Tyson Chandler based on my mood.

You guys want someone who chooses to get this tattoo on his leg?

I'm trying to get inside the minds of the managers, insiders, etc. I'm probably looking at it a little too early. But the general conception gets me curious. And nothing can really determine our future until after the NBA Finals.

BUT WORK WITH ME HERE GUYS. Just need some opinions in general. Maybe if I'm lucky, the big name guys on this board might share an opinion too (or I can just re-post this on Team Talk, but didn't want to take that route, yet).

Wow that tat is of jordan after reitrement, that jumpman is fat! maybe charles barkely posed for it.

What he said and also try to draft Sam Young if possible.

I went with "Make multiple pieces through FA and Trades. " And that applies whether we get the ship or not.

Gortat, Kidd, using Ben's expiring (Bosh/Amare) all rank high on my wish list...

Sure, we would all love to somehow trade Wallace and whatever else it takes to get Bosh, Amare, etc, which would be great. But more realistically, I would be happy if we landed an older vet or two like Kidd and McDyess.

Number 1 priority: Sign AV

2) Don't sign Wally :chuckles:

3) Look at Kidd and McDyess, also look at Gortat, but he is probably staying put unless someone throws huge money at him

I love Joe Smith, but McDyess is basically a better version of Joe Smith. He would be a great fit with LeBron because of his mid-range game. He could be a realistic option, even more so than Kidd because McDyess would be nuts to want to stay in Detroit if he really wants a ring as bad as he always says he does. There is always the chance Kidd stays in Dallas, and I am sure Cuban will offer up more money than we will be willing to offer Kidd.

It's tough to say what could happen now and a lot depends on who becomes available and how badly teams will look to save money and dump big contracts.

I think the Cavs and Ferry will be sitting there waiting to pounce on any deal that can bring a quality long term piece. Like a Mo Williams type scenario once again.

Other than that I have to believe if the MLE is used it will be on a player who could be here for a while and not an older vet. This team still needs long term pieces, especially in the frontcourt. Have to think the Cavs would prefer to use the BAE or veteran's minimum for any vet who might get signed.

If a draft pick can be bought or the Cavs can move up at a cheap price for a targeted player than that could also get done.

The Cavs are in good position and have the resources to make moves and add talent. As we've seen though it has to be just the right move and the right talent though. Ferry won't jump at any deal that might pop up.

Ferry will wait for the right deal concerning a future center. And Kidd will be a likely option too.

THe big siituation will probably be addressed by seeing whats going on with Bosh and Amare. If one, or even both, are available in the summer, then we will do everything in our power to bring one of them to Cleveland no matter whether we win it all this year or not. Those kinds of players dont become available very often at all, if that, and Ferry wont (and LeBron won't let Ferry) pass up on one of those guys.

If those guys arent available then we'll first look at free agent situations with Gortat and Zaza etc. If we can sign one of them with the MLE then we'll do that and maybe add Kidd, probably trade Sasha for a higher draft pick and call it an off-season, and probably wait for the inevitable availability of Chris Bosh if he isint already dealt.

If no kind of impact players like Gortat cant be got through free agency, and Bosh and Amare arent available, then we will probably look to guys through trade like Tyson Chandler, who would still be an amazing pickup.
