Who should we get in the draft?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Gotta be really impressed with the big guy from Morehead State. The guy was the most athletic player on the court and they were playing Lousiville. Just became second all time in D1 history in terms of double-doubles with 85. He might be a guy to look at if that Clipper pick ends up in the bottom end of the lottery. Might be.

Faried's highest spot (barring a reach) is around 16-18. I'd be upset if we took an energy defender in the lotto.

The dude is averaging over 17 points a game on over 60% shooting. Nearly 15 rebounds a game. Higher ceiling that simply an energy defender.

I wish Faried were taller, but at 6'8 I can't really justify taking him in the top 10.

He's somebody who could potentially slip to 31, though with his game against Louisville I doubt it.

I like Irving then Williams as my top 2 guys.
I'm also intrigued by Kanter and Valanciunas but haven't watched them enough to really rank them.

Interested in but not high enough on Jones or Sully to take with our 1st pick but would take them with the #2. Jones potential is awesome but so is his bust potential. Sully is the exact opposite he'll be a solid pro but I'm not sure his upside is really all that high. The other Euros such Donatas and Vesely I'd be ok with as well if the Cavs scouts like em. Walker seems like he could be a steal as well with the #2 pick (not sure about taking him with our #1 though)

I'm not a fan of Barnes: I like my two guards to be able to penetrate and finish in the lane consistently in the mold of Kobe/Wade/Ginobili. He has not shown that and seems more a of a cerebral Battier type and I don't think that's worth a lottery selection. I'm worried about Terence Jones as well as like Barnes he's simply not an efficient scorer with a TS% of 0.51 (Barnes is at 0.52%). Compare that to recent succesful wings TS%'s:
Durant 0.59
Harden 0.61
Evans 0.53
S. Curry 0.60-0.64
Mayo 0.56
Roy 0.61
E. Gordon 0.60

I'm more confident if you'll succeed in the NBA if you can at least be an efficient scorer in the NCAA (i.e. if you can't get to the line in college, don't see you doing it with the big boys)

Exactly. I don't see how a lack of a jump shot, and average post moves makes him any more then a hustle big. At 31? Yes. In the lotto? No. If We don't get Irving, I want Williams/Walker.

I like the Cavs to grab a wing and a big with the 2 lotto picks iin this draft. I like Barnes the most I think, seems to be a clutch player with a strong work ethic. I think he'll get better and better once he gets to the league, don't think he'll quiet reach superstar level though...no one in this draft strikes me as superstar material either though.

So I like Barnes as the wing we grab, but don't know much about the bigs in this draft. I know Kanter and Valunciuanas are being mentioned as some of the top guys, but have not had a chance to see either.

i'll probably get blasted for this, but if Iriving for whatever reason isn't available with the cavs fist pick, I'd be more than content to take Jimmer with their 2nd pick. I think he can really play, he can obviously shoot, but you put him out there with more talented players and he's going to look even better. Derrick Williams + Jimmer would be a real solid draft IMO.

I like Jimmer too, think he'll be a good pro. No matter what teams throw at him, he seems to be able to adjust and stay productive. He's carrying his team right now and still manages to come off as an unselfish team player. Seems to me his game will translate.

However, not so sold on Irving. I like him but would like to see him play another year in college to get that experience. He's more of a pure point and those guys usually need a little more time before they're ready for the pro game. I don't think 8 games is enough to be sold on him as a legit NBA point guard, especially when you're talking about taking him #1 overall. If this was someone similar to Derrick Rose or John Wall then I would be much more willing to take him #1. But Irving does not have the insane athleticism as those guys. If you're saying he's more of a Chris Paul, then I'd want to see much more of him before I'm willing to invest the #1 pick to get him. I mean is he going to be as good as Deron Williams or Rajon Rondo? Or is he going to be a level lower than those guys? Right now I think its too early to make a good judgment.

depends on the talent that remains there though, i would still take Motiejunas or even take a chance with brandon knight just because jimmers lack of athleticism would just make him mince meat for NBA guards

Problem is...Jimmer's game right now has right around nothing to do with Price's. He doesn't pass or make his team-mates any better. That said...he is surrounded with shitty talent, so perhaps he becomes more unselfish at the next level.

Right now, I don't see the Mark Price comparisons that keep getting thrown around. IMO he's somewhere between JJ Redick and Steph Curry. Probably right in the middle, with a slight lean towards Redick.

Not saying Jimmer's games is anywhere as good as Mark's, but when we drafted him the Cleveland Press's comments, were that he was to slow to be a PG and to small to be a SG. You never know. Would I take him with our two top picks noway, to much of a reach and risk, but if we picked up another pick in the 15 to 20 range and he was available yes.

Jimmer would make a great back up point to Kyrie. Trade Boobie and Ramon. :D
