Wild Speculation

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If there's even a chance Chris Paul is available you offer anything but LeBron. If he was, getting an allstar point guard in Mo, and a slightly possible developing allstar in JJ, along with expiring contracts (which I dont think we have really) and taking back a bad contract, that would not totally lose all their fans. They'd be getting some value.

But I definitely think that if we're looking at bringing in someone young to dominate next to LeBron, I think Iguodala is the perfect fit. I just don't see what we could still offer them that they would accept. I'd assume JJ would still be off the table, so really what do we have?

Imagine how the media would react if the Cavs were able to trade and get Chris Paul.

This offseason will be huge and shape our future for the next 5 years. Glad to know Ferry and Gilbert are already planning big things to ensure that we will compete for multiple championships. I've thought for awhile now that we would likely make a big trade with so many players developing in our system. Should be an exciting summer.

Getting Paul isn't exactly wild speculation when you look at who owns the Hornets and when that PG rook of theirs is playing damn good right now. Not to mention that the Hornets were listening to offers for West. Shinn is a terrible owner.

lol Mo is not an All-Star PG. He's a fringe All-Star at best. But that doesn't even matter, they are going to want to rebuild....not add a PG who will take minutes from their PG who is on the rise. CP3 to Cleveland isn't going to happen. Actually, I'd go as far as saying we had a better shot of getting him at the deadline this year than we will in the off-season.

We aren't going to get Iggy without adding Hickson. We couldn't even do that at the deadline....his value is only going to go up in the off-season.

There's obviously a huge difference between West and Paul, though. West isn't that young and was having a bit of a down year....they should have listened to offers for him. They aren't going to win with that team as-is, and West was essentially the only player who they could have traded to possibly improve the team now.

Trading West doesn't make them better. He scored 40 points last night and they beat Orlando. He's their second best player behind Paul and no one else is even close. He's only having a down year because Paul has been injured so much and because he's not playing with a legitimate center. Okafor starting at center is a big laugh out loud decision to me.

Paul isn't even happy there. He was pissed when they traded Chandler to the Bobcats for Okafor. Okafor has been a terrible fit there. That team is destined for mediocrity because of all of the bad contracts they have. Peja and Okafor both have bloated, crappy contracts.

Darren Collison better continue to play at an all-star level...would obviously make it an easier pill for the people of New Orleans to swallow.

I don't see this happening, the NBA won't allow it...

Couldn't this shit wait til after the season's over?

If we win it all I think it'd be tough to lose Mo, but Chris Paul is a dynasty piece. We'd still have AJ, Z, Shaq, and Andy with time to search for more front court players while LBJ and CP3 light up the league. Maybe even trying to bring in Okafor to help out NO's financial situation, and then search for the Cavs next Z...

I don't want to think about this right now though... damnit.

It would be best to pair James with a young star big man rather than a PG. If the Cavaliers are willing they would have some attractive sign-and-trade pieces with Jamison, Hickson and Varejao for a big man.

I gotta agree.

Not that I'd be upset if we got Paul of course, especially if it was the final move to lock in LBJ staying in town.

But, if LBJ's staying anyway, putting together a S&T package for someone like Chris Bosh would lock up an elite young core at 3 of the 5 positions. That's nothing to sneeze at, not to mention having Antwan backing him up if he's not an attractive enough piece in a s&t.

I would offer the following:

Boobie
Mo
Delonte
Moon

2010 First Round Pick
2012 First Round Pick
2014 First Round Pick
2016 First Round Pick

2010 Second Round Pick
2012 Second Round Pick
2014 Second Round Pick
2016 Second Round Pick

for

Chris Paul
Emeka
Thorton

I do not care about the cap/if it works or not - Ferry must (not should) must get chris paul if he has the opportunity...Now, I would understand if N.O. would not except an offer. If I am Danny ferry, I would lock invite the Hornets GM over to the Q and he can personally select any 14 guys on this team not named lebron whom he would like in exchange for chris paul. You could then bring in 14 local Cleveland YCMA Rec League players to play along side chris paul and Lebron, The Cleveland Cavaliers would win the next 10 NBA championships in succession.

The league would put the Cavs on House Arrest if we ever got Chris Paul.

Best? Yes, I agree. But getting a young star back court player isn't all that bad, either, lol. I don't know why you included Jamison though. He's not attractive at all. Then we might run into a problem if we'd have to give up both Varejao and Hickson...

I gotta agree.

3? No. Mo is not elite.

The "leave or stay" probabilities with Bosh have really swayed towards stay in the past couple months. I guess it could change depending on how the season/playoffs play out, but I'm really starting to believe he ends up staying. Amare may be a different story though. I know they passed on trading him at the deadline, but I can't see them keeping him if they won't offer him max money. Other than those 2, the only other star big man is Boozer...eh.

edit: ^^ lol, the Hornets INSTANTLY decline. No Hickson AND they give up one of their only young pieces? Come on. Any offer we make for CP3 will be lowballing, but that offer is just insulting.

edit2: I think Rudy Gay may be a dark horse. With the acquisition of Brewer, Memphis is supposedly going to cut ties with Gay in the summer. Plus in a S&T, Gay would be a BYC player so we wouldn't have to turn over the team to make salaries match. Hickson, Telfair, and one of AP/Moon/Delonte would work financially.

What's "leave or bolt"? Is that a scale on how fast he'll leave? :chuckles: "I think Bosh will leave." "Na, you're crazy. He's gonna BOLT!"

Love Paul as a player, but I'm not sure I like the pairing.

Watching the olympics, when Lebron and Paul were playing together, guess who was bringing up the ball and playing point?

You got it, Lebron.

If Lebron isn't going to defer to Paul as a point guard in the olympics, why would he here?

I know Lebron loves him and he's a great player, but I have to agree that adding a major big makes more sence for the team.
