Most of the guys that are up for new contracts on the Nets are scrubs who wouldn't be a part of their core group of talent.

That's why I said for another team.

I get ya, I just mean the guys with the real talent to get them a win are locked up at least until 2011. That said, I think they can squeeze out a few wins here.

They will win more than 2 games in that stretch.

This is one of the most puzzling teams I've ever seen. From a talent standpoint they have a solid core. Courtney Lee looked like an 8 year grizzled veteran against us in the playoffs last year.

Brook Lopez is going to be a Top 5 Center in the league soon.

Devin Harris has the ability to go off and is a load for the opposing PG to handle.

Should be worth more than 7 wins on paper alone.

Although...it could be a purposefully done tank-job between LeBron James, Jay Z, David Stern and Chris Douglas Roberts and they could rig the lottery like they did in 84 with Ewing....

^ Lopez always looks pissed off due to awkwardly placed and ridiculously thick eyebrows, I'd love to see him actually mad :chuckles:

Lopez’s frustration has been obvious in games and in the locker room lately and it was apparent at practice today.

Lopez stormed off the court and was followed by assistant coach Roy Rogers, several players and a Nets’ security person. Lopez never returned.

I like Lopez as a player and a person, but he needs to grow up a little. He was short with reporters on the trip, got annoyed during one interview I had with him in OKC, snapped at someone in Philadelphia.

The losing and his play – Lopez has scored under 15 in four of the last six games – are affecting him. Harris said the Nets have to focus on lifting Lopez’s play.

“Teams have been a little bit more aware,” Harris said. “He’s been more of the focal point of the offense. His catches aren’t as deep as they were earlier in the year. It’s probably both on myself and him - it’s kind of a partnership that way.

“We need to make more of a conscious effort that when he has deep position we need to give him the ball regardless of if he has an open shot or not. He’s our focal point in the paint. We need to first and foremost try to get him going and try and get the rest of the guys going.”

Gimme a fucking break. Can you blame him? The guy is destined to be the next great center in the Eastern Conference and a perennial All-Star, but he's rotting over there in New Jersey where they are tanking and teams have keyed in on him a little bit more. What's not to be frustrated about when you are desperately trying to reach 10 wins, and you are desperately hoping to get lucky in free agency and in the lottery?

Okay, if I'm Brook Lopez, I'm bitching that I want to win and if this shit doesn't change, I will absolutely go through restricted FA, and will absolutely fucking leave this team for chump change just to get the fuck out of there.

Brook, you know you wanna come to Cleveland. You're a goofy fucking white guy, you'd fit in just fine in Ohio. If god damn Z can be a fucking hero here, you could be almost as big as Lebron.

I really hope Brook reads this and demands a trade to Cleveland.

My god, Brook being a goofball, LBJ, Shaq, Delonte, Jamario. I mean really? Might as well sign Damon Jones for comedic relief.

BROOK. COME TO CLEVELAND SO WE CAN WORSHIP YOU. DO IT!

DO IT NOW FERRY. MAKE THIS SHIT HAPPEN!

I hope so, even though this is a dubious record I would still like to see it broken!

I swear I would shit myself if Brooke did that and demanded a trade here. Imagine him learning under Shaq and Z for the next year or two? Not to mention running pick and rolls with Lebron all day. Oh my god, I'm speechless just thinking about it.

He just needs to wait out his rookie contract, accept the qualifying offer, and he would be out of there in 3 years. I know he will want to try to get out earlier, but he cannot risk the Nets matching a long contract during his RFA. He just needs to play it out and see what happens.

Lopez

Brook Lopez is arguably already a top five center...though you could argue that says more about the center position in the NBA than it does about Brook Lopez.

Yeah, I'd say he's a top 5 or at least top 7. You're right, it does say a lot about our centers now though haha. I've felt for the past year or so that this is the weakest era of big men the league has seen in the past 30 years, especially now that Shaq and Timmy D are in their super twilight years.

Gone are the days when Center was the most stacked position and you had superb players like Hakeem, The Admiral, Young Shaq, Prime Ewing, and incredible defensive players like Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutumbo to bang down low with them. I'm just banking on players like Horford, Lopez, Bynum, Bogut, and Dwight Coward (maybe even Bust Griffin and Greg Woe-den) to develop in the coming years and make the Center position relevant again.

Now I don't follow college basketball but I hear this upcoming draft has 3 or 4 solid bigs that have the potential to have decent careers in the NBA (I think DeMarcus Cousins is one of the guys I've heard good things about).

If the Nets clinch the worst regular season record ever early, do they get to rest their starters for the last few games?
