I don't understand how people can truly believe that the Indians will or have at least a decent chance at making the playoffs. These people must be overlooking 3 bright glaring motherfucking signs why the Indians won't even sniff the playoffs.
First off, it's not secret that we have been decimated with injuries. It's been pretty bad all year but at this current juncture it went from ok that sucks to HOLY SHIT this is out of hand.
Secondly, we have not been playing good baseball for quite sometime now. I know there are many variables as to why we aren't, but my intention is not to address why. The fact of the matter is, we are playing at a piss poor level right now and I'm not sure I see much reason for hope aside from "Hey Grady took batting practice today! Waahoo!".
And finally, and honestly most notably, Detroit is playing very good baseball right now. They are peaking at the right time. They have a very dangerous lineup, there is no disputing that. Their pitching is suspect, but have done a pretty damn good job in the last few weeks. For us to make up a 6 game differential, two things need to happen: one we need to play well (unlikely) and Detroit needs to slip up. As of right now, I just don't see it. They can smell the finish line and those motherfuckers are not letting up.
And spare me the "oh hey we play them in the last series of the year, anything is poooosssiiiiibbbllllllee!!!" More than likely by then we will be in 3rd place.
All hope is not lost however, and this season has been far more enjoyable than I ever imagined. Acta has done a tremendous job imo, and we have not had great luck to say the least. I think our next two years look promising, and I just pray that we can get AND stay healthy. I also pray that Ubaldo can figure what the fuck is wrong with his mechanics/mentality and pitch up to his capability.
