After a long wait, the restricted free-agent Ramon Sessions appears to be on the verge of signing an offer sheet with the Timberwolves.

The Wolves have about $3.7 million of their mid-level exception available as a starting salary to offer Sessions.

The Bucks would have seven days to match but it is believed that they are highly unlikely to do so since they are only $1.6 million under the luxury tax threshold.

Wolves' GM David Kahn would add another point guard to his roster after Ricky Rubio's decision to spend two more years overseas.

The Knicks and Clippers were thought to be in the chase for Sessions.

They just drafted 3 pgs. Apparently the Wolves plan this season is to acquire every young point guard in the league.

Re: Wolves, Session Near Offer Sheet

So the Wolves already have Flynn, wasted a pick on Rubio, and now decide they need to go after Sessions as well? PGs must single-handedly win championships...

Re: Wolves, Session Near Offer Sheet

They probably don't want to start Flynn right away, and Rubio won't be back until 2011-2012 so they got a starting PG, and relatively cheap. I don't know what there plan is with Flynn though. Maybe they'll split time.

I don't think 3.7 will nab him, I think the Bucks will match.

Nope. It is 3,7 in first year only. It will be like 4+ per year for 4 years. We will not match that.

Are you pissed right now to be a bucks fan? That is a fantastic deal for a player of sessions abiliity. Poor management and poor ownership never mix well.

Re: Wolves, Session Near Offer Sheet

I would be pissed too if I have a deer or goat as a symbol of my team. Talk about queerness.

I understand all the heat the T-wolves are getting, but for the mid-level this is a great move. They are getting an all-star caliber PG (if he had proper exposure, etc) to start and allow Flynn to come off the bench and learn from a younger veteran. I mean this only improves their team. And if he turns out to be a great player for them then they can always trade Rubio's rights in a year or two and get a late first rounder I would imagine.

Well if they get Sessions for that amount of money then that is a steal. So if this goes down they'll have Sessions, Flynn, and Rubio as point guards. They could probably get a nice player if they trade Rubios rights with one of their expiring contracts this year (brian cardinals, and mark blount). Well before they didnt even have a good point guard now they're gonna have 2/3.

As it stands, the only two PGs on that team are Flynn and Sessions. I understand that they screwed up in drafting Rubio, but the fact of the matter is that Rubio is an immature little baby who never should have entered the NBA draft. He knows he's bound to be a top 5 pick, and yet, he doesn't want to play for a lottery team? Some of it is probably the fact that he would be homesick/the whole buyout thing, but what it boils down to is that he doesn't want to play for a lottery team. Since this is a 4 year deal, I would not be surprised at all if the Wolves traded Rubio's rights to a contender in another year or two.

If the T'Wolves would have just drafted someone else (DeRozan) instead of Rubio, they would have a bright future.

Sessions/Flynn
Derozan
? (Brewer I guess, but he has been a bust)
Love
Jefferson

Wow, Thats alot of PGs, they also have Chucky Atkins let's not forget

They seem to be positioning themselves for a trade, hopefully for depth with rubio's contract. They have a good team assembled, and in a few years with them learning each others games they could be an excellent team with another piece and some bench depth. Hopefully there ownership and management will try to put a winner out there. I always support small market teams trying to do well, I'm so sick of NY bost, chi, la.

If the Bucks don't match they may win only a single-digit amount of games.
