im not gonna lie...im a wolverine fan but i also like the buckeyes...ive watched OSU rip apart the big ten for the past several years and im very impressed with tressel as well as his recruiting....i have to admit tho.....the idea of a spread offense in the big ten is worrysome to many buckeye fans...i guarantee this year that michigan will get blasted all season...they have no chance....but also...the big ten is not used to a spread offense and the buckeyes have always struggled against it.....in a few years are the buckeyes in trouble?

um, I am a Purdue alumni, the spread has won a big ten title already and has been around for 11 years in the big ten. Also, as a Pudue fan I will tell you no team defends the spread better than Ohio State. (they have crushed our offense several times, but my boy Drew got you guys bad a few years ago. :chuckles:)

Another 2 teams that runs the spread is Minnesotta and Indiana, I am not sure if you pay attention to the whole big ten or just your favorites. But it wont be anything new to the big ten, its just new to michigain, and I have felt WV was way overated for several years now. Florida beat Ohio State because the executed better, not because Ohio State couldnt defend a certain scheme.

michigan has a much better recruiting history and has more power to get the players they want....unlike purdue(saints are my favorite team so drews in my heart too).....u must be out of ur mind if u think that the spread has been effectively executed in the big ten....UM has been an elite school for several years and no doubt pryor going to OSU hurts but they have a lot of time to make up for that....dont be surprised when the big ten starts falling to a superior scoring offense

did you just compare Purdue to Rich Rodriquez's offense???

Cause they are no where near the same thing

Minny was in its very first year of the system so you have no basis and Indiana is well Indiana....

Im not saying we are going to take over but I watched WVU blast Oklahoma...we just have to find our Pat White...Could it be Newsome or Beaver??? not sure Maybe even Feagin.... but dont compare what we are going to be oing to Purdue

I did compare the 2, while the wvu spread emphasized the running qb more, when we had a qb that could run it was more of a weapon. Lately one of the biggest problems with Purdues offense has been the lack of a running qb. (drew was alot more effective with this than people realized). Both offenses are disigned to get your lb's off the field and get your nickel and dime cb's on the field. This creates mis matches as lesser players get more extended playing time and have to block larger offensive linemen and fullbacks sometimes. But the concept is very simular, and I have actually had discusions with Joe Tiller about his offense and what personel he preferes for it.

I guess when summing it up, the one thing that might scare some about michigain running the offense is the name michigain will allow rodriguez to recruite the exact type of athlete he wants to run his offense instead of tiller having to adjust his offense each year to the personel he was able to obtain.

isnt that what i said....michigan has the recruiting power to get who they want...and no doubt with a new offense...despite the departure of a few key players....young players are interested in a new and exciting offense just like the spread....the wolverines are bringing in new firepower not only with a recruiting class....but with a whole new offensive scheme

i am worried about this upcoming season because lloyd carrs players are still in the lineup...but give RR 3 years and he will have his spread in full force running amock in the big ten

Its a trick offense that will run its course, I have been thinking that for some time. I have seen at Purdue and other schools it doesnt fool people as much as it used too. Tebau is a special talent, and runs the offense to perfection. Funny thing is, the kid OSU just got was made for the offense.

Look, michigain will always be tough because of their ability to recruit. But dont kid yourself, a few wrong moves and Michigain could have a Notre Dame like run. I know this time is exciting for Michigain fans, but it should also be nerve racking too.

I do think the style of offense of the SEC is something that the Bucks are not used to. Nobody really runs the kind of offense that they do. The qb option deal has not been figured out by the staff.

and what do you think Rich's offense is all about...You dont think there is a qb option play or two???

We are currently on our way to a great recruiting class and we are only in year 1 under Rich

OSU is killing it right now...you cant take it away from them...they are dominating on the field and in recruiting and putting in a USC type of run

very impressive...Michigan is fighting to get to that point and I think we havea very good shot at it...

I promise you will see a very different Michigan team than you have ever sen...The type of athletes we will have on the field will be just much different...

WVU just went 33-5 or something like that with 2 and 3 stars...Rich has the ability to get a higher calibur kid at UM...we will see what happens

for my sake I hope it works out

the spread requires a lot of speed and more talented receivers....one thing michigan has never lacked is receivers....they always recruit very highly in that category....i agree that missing pryor could hurt a little....but at the same time...there are always transfers and new talents to look for...dont be surprised if a new kid shows up on day one for big blue....the big ten has been a power conference for many years...it will be interesting to see what a speed offense can do against a power team....the SEC has already shown what can happen when a great speed team goes up against a great power team.....now we will see what happens when a decent speed team goes up against a great power team

rich rodriguez is gonna get eaten alive and he'll either quit or get fired. YOu heard it from me first!

I havent looked up anything of the school up north lately, but i do know they lost their whole offense....who is gonna run the spread O for them?

im already counting down the days until we destroy them. its gonna be great!

Jim Tressel is already beating Rich Rod. He has been beating him in recruiting battles.

i agree that Michigan has had some great receivers, but who is going to through it to them? In my opinion i think that this season is going to be a rude awaking for Michigan fans on what these next few seasons will be like. Im sure it will get better eventually but this season and maybe next season, i think there going to stink.

I dont care at all though, it wouldn't matter to me if they didn't win a game

go bucks.

im a wolverine fan but i also like the buckeyes
That is not aloud.
And no, i am not worried about the spread. The only thing that can hurt OSU this year is OSU.
