Houston may look to trade T-Mac for expirings to go into complete rebuild mode what about trading Z for T-Mac

Z is in his final year period not just contract but career and we can have AV be our Backup C and Darnell Jackson who will have a summer long learning with shaq how to use his body to his advantage

T-Mac when healthy is one of the best players in the NBA although come playoff time is the exact opposite although i think shaq's success counters that

High Risk: Gets Hurt, Out for year or we dont get out of 1st round

High Reward: Puts us over the top and a championship in cleveland

T-Mac just had micro-fracture surgery on the wrong side of 30 years old. He will not play this season.

Re: High Risk High Reward move?

With the possibility of Lebron not resigning next year, there is no way the cavs can make ANY "high risk" moves!!

Re: High Risk High Reward move?

T-Mac is a 20+ mil expiring contract. What good would trading him for expiring contracts do?

That's an interesting scenario.
We've got $32 million locked up in our C position.
Why not unlock some of that value to a team that needs a C?
Which in this case would be the Rockets.
They lost out on Gortat to the Mavericks.
And Yao's down for the count..
Could Z and his $10 mil expiring contract become a trade asset?
We'll see, I guess.

Please, just step back from your computer: you are contributing to the dumbing down of this board. I really wanted to cut back on my facepalm activities, but you leave me no choice...

dumb comment
1000% chance he plays this year

Microsurgery on an older guy like T-Mac who has the body of a 40 year old already.

There is a good chance he never plays again.

Re: High Risk High Reward move?

I mentioned this at the deadline when we actually had a worth while time trading for him. I'm glad we didn't but now would just be a terrible idea.

Re: High Risk High Reward move?

I would not mind trading Z for Battier and fillers. They could use Z, and we could use Battier as our tall guard off the bench. If we could get Landry out of the deal that would be awesome, but unrealistic probably. Re-sign AV and if no Landry get McDyess.

Mo/Gibson
Delonte/Battier/TK
LeBron/Green
Dyess/AV/JJ/Darnell
Shaq/AV

I know some people think Andy should start, but I just think he is better suited for the bench. Gosh, I really wish this could happen now, Battier would be awesome. Curse my ability to dream.

Z IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE

HELL NO to McGrady

Re: High Risk High Reward move?

What is with all of the stupid comments on here in the past few days... T-mac is out for AT LEAST HALF the season...
Several NBA players have undergone microfracture knee surgery with mixed results. Amare Stoudemire and Jason Kidd are among notable players who've resumed their careers successfully after the procedure; Chris Webber and Anfernee Hardaway are among the group who were never the same.

Considering that McGrady has been fighting injuries his entire career...things are not looking too good for him

Re: High Risk High Reward move?

It's not as crazy as you might think:

From Yahoo! Sports:
Jun 26 F Tracy McGrady is not close enough in his comeback attempt from microfracture surgery to determine how far he is from coming back. But he is in the last season of his contract, worth $22.5 million, and while he is out, insurance would pick up much of the cost of his salary. With the Rockets willing to take on a longer contract for the right player -- Rockets general manager Daryl Morey would want someone that could bring the ability to trigger offense he believes McGrady still can offer -- teams could improve their future cap situation with a trade for McGrady and his expiring contract. Last season, Morey was not interested in offers for McGrady. This season, he said he must listen. "We're getting a lot of interest on Tracy and I do have to listen," Morey said. "It's my job to make this team as ready to win the title as possible. I think the reason we are going to have a pretty high bar on moving him is because he still provides exactly what coach (Rick Adelman) wants and I thought we were missing, which was a guy who can get a high-quality shot at the end of the game. "That said, we want to position ourselves for the playoffs, it looks like it's going to be hard for Tracy to be here for a good chunk of the year, so if we can get a talented player who helps us all season, I think we have to look at it."

Re: High Risk High Reward move?

McGrady is NOT likely to play.....

He's 30 years old, fragile, and coming off microfracture....his best bet is to wait things, be patient, sit out all of next year, and enter 2010 as a free agent.

I think he's likely to be dealt, possibly to the Knicks if they can get some sort of TALENT back in the deal....like Nate Robinson, Eddy Curry, and Cuttino Mobley's expiring that is kinda like Eric Snow's, if I recall.

That would clear cap room for the Knicks for 2010 and possibly give the Rockets some talent, but burden them with Curry, unless, of course, he gets into shape and plays again....which would help Houston with no Yao.

McGrady should sit a full season, collect his money, and try to plan for a comeback in 2010. He'd still be only 31 and if he's recovers fully have some years left. If not, maybe he comes back as more of a spot up shooting SF/PF with some more bulk.
