WWE/NXT/AEW/NJPW Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Damn, Rollins is my guy. This really saddens me. Ugh. With Jericho leaving April, gonna be hard(er) to watch here on out.

Damn another major injury? Skipped out on wrasslin for a few days.

Seth is usually the one hurting wrestlers.

For a guy that is so fit... Getting hurt hurt often now.

Knee injuries don't really care how fit you are, they are flukey as hell.

on the bright side Luke Harper got to keep his teleportation powers

Word is that WWE believes Rollins has an MCL injury that will put him out 8 weeks.

Wrestlemania is 8 and a half weeks away. Hoping for the best here. Would be really disappointing to have him off the card.

Even if he is able to return in eight weeks, it's hard to see them continuing his feud with Triple H because there is literally no margin for error there. If Rollins isn't ready in exactly eight weeks, they're fucked. I'd guess they will shift Triple H into a different feud now and, if Rollins is ready in time, he can interfere in that match or something.

There's a presale right now for NXT Live at the Agora Theater in Cleveland on March 3

Re-watching the Owens/Reigns match from the Rumble (by far the best of their series of matches) and there's a moment that pretty much encapsulates why people hate Roman Reigns. Jericho tosses Owens the brass knuckles. Owens ends up hitting Reigns with a superman punch with the brass knuckles on. Reigns kicks out.

No one should ever kick out of a punch with brass knuckles. Ever. It's just the worst kind of Super Cena booking, and I already hate how every Cena PPV match requires about forty-three finishers before it ends.

On another note, I found it kind of dumb that Jericho had to toss Owens the brass knuckles. It was a no disqualifications match, so Owens could have just started the fucking match wearing them. Hell, he should have worn them on both hands.

Oh, and that Five Guys Frog Splash that Owens gave to Reigns through the table was the best spot of the entire match.

I think they should shift the triple HHH/Samoa Joe feud to Owens and Jericho. let reigns feud with stroman.

Samo Joe to Owens while they were in NXT

If they play their cards right they could put both guys in at Lesnar/Goldberg level. where either the two guys could take a match from the two legends

I thought the exact same. Reigns kicking out of a brass knuckles punch was just stupid. My gf, who knows nothing of wrestling, was watching and questioned it too. Along with questioning why he took them off and kicked them aside to not use again after that.

Sometimes wrestling is really hard to defend to those who don't watch it.

The believability has been such an issue. Lol. Like how does someone ever walk again after getting hit in the head with a sledge hammer? How does someone kick out of a pin after being kicked in the face but being dropped onto your back is a 10 minute KO from Cena's finisher... How is a stunner any worse than a jawbreaker? Why does a chairshot DQ you, but putting them through an announcer table is just fine? How does one of the strongest guys on the roster get pinned with his tights being grabbed? (Cesaro) Sometimes you gotta turn your brain off, haha.

If it's a really just an MCL tear like they are saying, and his ACL is fully intact, I think Rollins makes it back for Wrestlemania. A Grade 3 tear is a 4-8 week injury, so the 8 week number we've been hearing is likely a worst case estimate.

However, if he doesn't make it back, I think they should add Joe to the Fastlane title match as payment for taking out Rollins. Have him win it, then feud with a returning Balor heading into Wrestlemania.

No idea where this leaves Triple H. I'm not sure it's necessary to have him wrestle (I'm sure he will though). Book him vs Shane maybe? And give AJ a legitimate match?

All of that makes too much sense though. Never going to happen.

I mean, suspension of disbelief is fine. It's necessary to wrestling. That said, I hate when guys kick out of certain things, and Reigns is really, really guilty of that. The brass knuckles (also known as the Power of the Punch) should be a finisher, always. Just like the sledgehammer. I'm okay with occasionally kicking out of a finishing move, but it should really only happen in big matches, and then only once. I generally dislike Cena's matches because they are just finisher-spamming. I think there were like eight finishers delivered (total, by both guys) in his match with Styles, and that's ridiculous. And Cena and Reigns kick out of finishers regularly on fucking Raw/Smackdown, which is absurd.

The problem with Rollins' recovery timetable is that even a minor setback completely fucks everything up. If he's not ready at exactly eight weeks, he won't be ready for 'Mania. That's why I don't think his match with Triple H will be on. They can't risk building up a big feud that they aren't sure they can deliver on. My guess is, if he's cleared, he either interferes in Triple H's match or shows up after to hit him with a Pedigree. Then they can build to HHH/Rollins for Summerslam.

As for Joe, I really, really don't want to see Joe/Balor again. Jesus they had like forty-five matches in NXT and none of them were great.

Triple H will definitely wrestle at 'Mania, though. I believe his contract grants him a million dollar payday for a Wrestlemania match. No way he passes that up. Nobody would if they were healthy enough to wrestle, and Triple H is in better shape than most of the guys who work for him.

I'm just trying to brainstorm something for Joe to do since he had his big debut, and now his initial opponent is on the shelf. I struggle to think of a better (and plausible) scenario. They probably won't put on a 5 star match, but it's not like their NXT matches stunk, they were still pretty good.

In regards to Rollins, if it's just the MCL, that's 4-8 weeks. I assume they'd keep the match on while having a back up plan if there is a set back.

On a related note: We'll probably never know the answer to this, but I really wonder what the plans were for Joe after Fastlane when Rollins moved on to Triple H.
