Anyone watching the new season?

Pretty awesome for a variety of reasons.

Love this show. Been binging on Netflix. First couple episodes of the miniseries have been great.

Funny thing is that I have not gone back to watch any of the originals and it hasn't affected my enjoyment at all.

I think that's a testament to the continuity they've maintained and how well the show has held up over time.

They're using the significant improvements in technology to really improve the show too.

2nd episode was better than the first.

The big alien mythology episodes tended to underwhelm me. Maybe because we never got all the answers. I know that is part of the show, but still frustrating.

Next week looks like a MOTW episode, which were always my favorite.

Also, how the hell is CSM still alive? He was freaking blown up by a missile. And had cancer 15 years ago.

MOTWs were fun.

I never minded when the show went off the main plot so we could cover the creature feature type storylines.

Not sure how much time there will be to do so with only six episodes, but clearly the next episode is one.

I read somewhere this season is going to be half MOTW and the other half the main plot. They said the last episode of the season is main plot so that would seem to indicate next three are MOTW and there already talk of another mini-series since the ratings are really good so far already.

Not that it matters, but X-Files is rockin a 9.4 on IMDB which would put it in Band of Brothers, Breaking Bad, GOT territory.

It ain't anywhere near THAT good. But it's damn good for what it is.

I remember the show when I was growing up...but never got into it. I may now.

Episode 3 was fun, but a bit too self referential.

They played up the MOTW angle by saying "monster" a bunch of times. They referenced a couple of old MOTW episodes. Almost like a MOTW greatest hits.

Maybe it's because I hadn't watched the show in so long. Or maybe its because I've only just restarted watching the series starting in the first season about a month ago, and the tone of the show is obviously far different... but were the MOTW episodes always so... campy?

Campy may not be the right word either, but there was a lack of seriousness in this episode that I don't remember monster of the week episodes having. It was fun, and the lizard person being turned into a human was a nice twist, but it felt more like a twilight zone episode than an X-Files episode.

This week's episode was basically a parody of the MOTW episodes in the original series, I think. I liked it a lot, even if it contrasted quite a bit with the general tone of the series.

I'm sad this is only going to be six episodes, because so far it's a lot of fun having The X-Files back.

My favorite was the parasitic twin episode from season 2- the one where the retired freak show performers are being attacked in their community by what Mulder thinks is a Fiji mermaid.

Maybe not on a regular basis, but the original MOTW episodes were plenty campy. Remember the Great Mutato going to a Cher concert with Mulder and Scully?
