I think there is a lot of potential to deal with New Orleans. We are both rebuilding clubs and have a few things we can offer each other.

It has been well noted that New Orleans has been in financial trouble and our owner has some deep pockets he's willing to reach into. With Emeka Okafor having a 46.1 million dollar contract with 3 years left, we may be able to work out a bigger deal if we absorb his contract for young talent.

I would love to see if we could acquire Minnesota's 1st round pick via New Orleans for taking Okafor's large contract from them. Maybe a Jamison, Sessions, cash, and their 2012 2nd rd pick for Okafor and Minnesota's 1st rd pick. I feel we win big in that scenario, and they set their club up better for rebuilding with Okafor's long term massive deal off their books. I would even be willing to throw in Hollins or Erden, their pick.

Maybe we can haggle a similar deal to include Henry. Finding someone who is willing to take Okafor's contract could be priceless in there eyes. Okafor could fill in for Andy the rest of this season then could be a solid role player for the next 2 years. Imagine something like this:

Irving, Gibson, 2nd rd pick
Bradley Beal, Gee, Harris
Harrison Barnes, Casspi, FA
Thompson, Samuels, Harangody
Andy V, Okafor, Hollins

I know it is a stretch to land Barnes and Beal, but image any type of similar draft like this. There are a ton of SF and SG in this draft, pair any of the top 10 up and our future is looking bright.
doesn't make sense for new orleans.

there is a salary floor. if they don't spend the money on okafor, they will be forced to spend it elsewhere. they are giving up a super valuable 1st for nothing.

Just to play the crazy what if card. Lets say NOH wants to compete sooner rather than later. They will certainly extend Gordons contract, and possibly offer a contract to fill another need. Then use their higher draft pick on a different need. That Minnesota pick is late lottery this year with as bad as the east is. Anything can happen.

If that were the case, the Lakers deal wouldn't have been nixed.

Gordan? Stern can't afford to lose the biggest piece they got from the Paul trade for nada. Can he?
