Just buy a new one if you're worried about fixing it.
Don't towel trick if you don't plan on getting it fixed,it's only a short time before it'll screw up again.I think mine lasted 2 weeks then got messed up.

Best way to fix it is to buy a PS3

They're not immune. The blu-ray drive died in my original PS3. I thought I'd just swap the thing out, but it's not just an oem drive, it's all custom with a bunch of plastic and takes a lot of dis-assembly to get to. Fortunately, like with the Xbox, there's a cottage industry that's sprung up around fixing these things, and you can get a new "laser deck" for like $50 and just have to follow the youtube instructions.
