XCLUSIVE: Goodbye Charlie?, OBR Article

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I disagree, and I completely understand the concept..The Patriots, Chargers, Colts,Saints,Eagles etc... They should be filling up holes.. Teams like the Browns have so many holes, picking the bpa is the way to go IMO...

I wouldn't take Brady at #3...

The only player I'd take at #3 is Calvin Johnson if everyone wants to play hardball..I don't want the bpa going by without dealing down. #5 is where I'd like to go if Joe Thomas is there..give him to the Cards let Tampa get Calvin and take Brady.

Use the extra 2nd to select some of the lineman available..

"Sears Grubbs Blalock Kalil Tyler etc"

I'm just saying if worse comes to worse and we take Quinn at least Frye's ass isn't here right?

Having a bunch of good recievers doesnt really work...ask the Cardinals.

Which is why he went on to mention trading down.

I'd like to see Frye gone... but I don't think we should draft a QB and have him end up like Couch. I'm starting to warm up to Adrian Peterson, and it seems like he'd be the guy to go after. Unless we can somehow pull Charlie Frye in a package for Lamont Jordan.

Give frye another year we dont need to waste a pick on another qb. if we draft peterson and fix the online frye will be ok and put up decent numbers like 60% completion 3000 yards 22tds 15 ints with our weapons he should be able to get the job done he was sacked like 46 times last year . it was only his first year. give him some more time

I'm cool with Peterson or Quinn..

Peterson would make the O-Line look better he has a great ability to break tackles and the speed to get out of the backfield faster than Droughns..he'd help control the time of possession which we got murdered in every game last year..

It essentially boosts the defense by allowing them to rest up. It's not that we have a bad defense really it's the fact that they are on the field so much because of all the 3 and outs they just get fatigued and blow wide open. Their first 3 drives were usually always impressive..

Giving the WR's one less Safety to be doubled off of helps as well..especially with an erratic tosser like Frye..

A franchise RB is a very very versatile weapon...It'd help us establish an identity..our play action may actually work this year if we select AP..

All I can say is about Peterson is that I would hate to pass on another top RB in the draft and have him end up like LT.

That's the fear I think Savage shares with us Browns fans... this is an interesting time for this team as a whole. With Cowher looming in the distance both Romeo, and to a lesser extent, Phil need to prove themselves right now. I can honestly say that I believe in Phil... Romeo? Not so much. But I'm afraid that if there aren't immediate results on the field this year Lerner may do something rash and dangle the coach/GM jobs in front of Cowher.

It will be interesting to see how everything plays out. Obviously this draft is huge for the future of this team. For that reason I don't see them passing on AP. They need someone to make an immediate impact.

I'd love to say that Cowher is our silver lining but I don't think he'd tarnish his legacy of 15 years in Pittsburgh by joining the enemy..even though he played and coached here he's a Steeler.

Seems to me the easiest way to build teams in today's NFL is to build a team, and then slide in a QB. A lot of talented QB's have been compromised by having a crappy team around team, said QB getting crushed, losing his confidence and eventually disappearing into the sunset. The Browns can't afford to mess this draft pick up, so I see them going w/ the safe pick, AP. Even w/ AP, and what looks to be a slightly better O-Line, we will still likely have a top 10 pick again in 2008. At that time, w/ our other skill positions filled (Braylon, K2, AP) we can risk a pick on a QB for the future.

Look at just the last few years: Ben R to Pit, and Cutler and Leinhart last year. We can get a QB next year w/ a pick in the 10 range. In the meantime, let Frye or KA keep the seat warm.

Too bad Tim Tebow wasn't a Sophomore this year :(

Tim Tebow gotta learn to throw...

If we don't get a franchise qb this year, do we take one next year and who? Brohm doesn't impress me

I really see us taking Quinn or AP.

Some more rambling.......

Anyone else notice how around this time we think we know who Savage and the Browns will draft, but we always end up wrong.

Last year, we thought Bunkley, Nata in the early stages....Once it got closer to the draft we knew it would be Wimbley, Nata or Bunkley, and we had more of an idea it might be Wimbley.

2005....It was Derrick Johnson, Mike Williams and others....then close to the draft we knew it was gonna be Braylon

This year it's, Thomas, Quinn and Peterson, with Peterson being the odds on favorite on who we are gonna draft.... I just dont see it as a slum dunk we take him...Happens every year.

Couch/Akili
Brown/Arrington
LT/Seymour then we draft big money on draft day
Willie/Duckett, looked like duckett.
Faine? No one saw that coming.
