Yahoo's Shooting Guard Rankings

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
But this isn't an article written to talk about the best guards in the league, this is an article written where the writer talks about who he thinks will be the best guards for next season, so you know it's purely based on opinion, and there's no way to really use statistics to prove it.

It's just something to do during the off-season (as many pointed out), and for basketball writers, there's not a lot to write about during the off-season. Just something to discuss that isn't LeBron James. With that being said, it's not a very good list, but then again, we won't really find out until next season...

Yeah, Ok. That's fair enough sounding to me.

How is James Hardin on this list?

Best backcourts in the NBA?

What is the top 15?

Do Mo/Sessions make the top 15? Could they by years end?

For some reason when I saw Tyreke Evans I was like Evan Turner already ranked this high.

I find it funny how people think Maurice Williams is a SG.

5. Manu Ginobili(notes), San Antonio Spurs (last year: fourth)

At his best, and healthiest, Manu is just a step below Kobe Bryant(notes).

:chuckles:

Kobe is #1 over Wade. Kobe fought through multiple injuries this year and hit a ton of game winners. Of course Wade will have better numbers. He was the primary star on his team! Kobe shared the stats with much better contributing players than the Heat had.

You disagree with that notion? You can argue Manu at his healthiest and best is one of the most complete shooting guards in the game. He can play pick and roll, shoot, pass, get to the basket, and is a pretty underrated defender.

The guy can really ball when he wants to. He does have that Kobe Bryant killer instinct in him. Kobe Bryant himself said Manu is one "bad man".

I have to disagree. When you take in injuries and his overall performance throughout the season, Wade is the better player at this point in each one's career. However, Kobe Bryant at his best is definitely still better than Wade at his. However, like you said, Kobe battling injuries, and age you can't really say on a nightly basis he's better than Wade right now. Kobe can't consistently dominate and be great every night anymore. I think you could even argue Kevin Durant might be edging out Kobe right now. However, when it comes to who would you want to close a game with, Kobe is still miles ahead of Lebra, Durant, and Wade IMO.

If you could take Wade or Bryant for a full season, which guy would you take? Wade. If you could take Bryant or Wade for one quarter who would you take? Kobe. That's how I evaluate the two at this point in their careers.

Kobe Bryant in his prime is miles better than Wade, but not at this point.

Even hobbled with broken fingers, Kobe is the best player on the planet. The last time people like Charles Barkley declared Kobe "done" was during the Oklahoma City series (1st round). Kobe had his knee drained after that series and proceeded to drop 30+/game for what, 9 straight or something like that, shooting 50+ % against Utah and Phoenix.

How many game winners did Kobe have last season, with a busted finger? 6 or 7, IIRC.

Just as importantly, who guarded Rondo during the Boston series? Remember when Cleveland made Rondo look like an MVP?

Who stepped up to guard Westbrook when he was torching the Lakers in Round 1?

And who will guard Wade when the Lakers face Miami?

Wade is a terrific player, but he's #2. Don't ask Kellly, ask any GM or NBA coach, or poll the players. Even Wade admits as such.

Those are just awful points. I'm not even trying to get into this argument, but those two points are terrible. Rondo was slowed down by the Lakers bigs, not Kobe.

If you think you could, try writing an article on a different basketball related topic that would keep someones attention every single day.

Something that going to make it even more difficult is that it is the offseason with not much NBA news.

Give it a try and see how hard you think it is, I bet your mind changes.

This actually doesn't sound too hard. I have a billion different things I could talk about for hours/turn into an article.

My problem would simply be that I'm too lazy to sit down and construct my take on something as a story. That's the tough part for me. I'm not exactly a great writer or anything as well.

The ideas/topics isn't the hard part, actually translating it to a cohesive paragraphs is the part that I give these writers credit for.

But this guy is an idiot. :chuckles:
