I know this is a dull, boring point of view, but it is true. I hear the talk about how we have no one on this team besides Lebron. Hell, I have even said that...but I know better. I know that Gibson, Delonte, Varejao, even Pavlovic are talented young players that can contribute as well as any other teams young talent can on any given night. I know Z, Wallace, and Joe Smith are good vets that have experience and skill that must be considered. I remember last offseason, we had a nice long thread talking about trading for Wally and quite a few people wanted him and said he could contribute. Gone are the loathed Larry "Girls just want to have fun" Hughes and Drew "Opps, I didn't defend" Gooden.

When I think about what this team looked like just a few years ago, when we had guys like Eric Willaims, Mateen Cleaves, Kevin Ollie, Darius Miles, Ricky Davis, Jeff McInnis, David Wesley as MAJOR contributors...now THAT is a garbage roster.

Right now, when I take an honest look at the roster, it isn't sexy, but I know that each and every one those guys, even Damon Jones, can contribute in big ways.

This past offseason, we lost to the Champs in a coin flip series, in which we had four new guys in heavy rotation and lost Gibson at a crucial point. I know everyone hates to hear it, but we weren't that far off. I feel confindent that if this roster goes into training camp together, developes chemistry from day one and we have good luck with injuries...I don't see why we can't win it all next year.

Sure, getting an All-Star or two would make that more likely, but it isn't like it is unlikely now. This team isn't a bottom feeder anymore. We can beat anyone.

Can't disagree. There's no doubt in my mind we had the ability to take out Detroit and LA... and I think it was clear we had the ability to take out the Celtics.

I respectfully hope Danny Ferry doesn't adopt this viewpoint. The Cavs need to make moves to improve the roster. Just because Lebron can drag pretty much anyone deep in the playoffs doesn' t mean we have a strong squad around him.

Consider that if Lebron were to go down, we would very likely have the worst record in the NBA. I seriously don't think we would be competitive.

Who would be the primary scoring option? Teams would trap Z to death, no one else can create a shot off the dribble against real pressure.

More important though is that other playoff teams are making moves to get better. Standing pat doesn't get it done. Teams saw how Boston vaulted to a championship after some deals, Miami did the same, the Lakers vaulted off a deal, etc.

Lebron made it clear in his last press conference that he felt the team needed to make moves to get better..

Oh, I agree, I want moves to be made...but good moves...moves that don't send us back to 2002 if they don't work out. Sometimes, it just seems like people want to make a move just to do it. Inactivity does not equal us getting worse. We stand pat the situation does not worsen (expect for the Lebron in 2010 that has all you girls panties in a bunch)

As far as Lebron going down...that is true for most teams. Spurs looked terrible when Manu got injured...you take a major piece out of any team...they are going to look significantly worse.

I couldn't agree with this statement any more. We all want the Cavaliers to continue to improve and make the kind of roster changes that will help the team in the present and in the future.

That said.....

Not making a move >>>>>> making a bad move.

Lebron had 6 terrible games against Boston. Yet we managed to stay in every one of them. I agree, the title is ours for the taking.

Well, we have the ability to win the title, but we need a little luck too. No team is significantly better than us, but we don't really have anything on any other team either...besides Lebron.

That is very true. If we have such a garbage roster then how were our garbage coaching and garbage players able to stay in those games and win some with Lebron having a very Pdestrian series until game 7? Our roster right now is better than we give them credit for. That said, I want to add to minor pieces now and see what is avaialble later.

Terrible is a strong word. Even when Lebron shoots poorly, his presence completely alters the dynamic of a game.

Look at how much defensive attention he drew, literally 3-4 defenders on every play. He also did a great job defensively on Pierce outside of game 7 which is almost more important than his offense.

I would say he didn't play his best for the most part but as the Celtics showed in the finals, perimeter guys aren't gonna put up big numbers against them in a series.

Reason out roster is often called garbage because we don't have sexy players...Z? Joe Smith? Even Boobie (all though I think he is bad ass). They are solid contributors, just don't notice them. Especially when you have someone like Lebron making them look like absolute shit every night on comparison alone.

I think our team has several solid role players.

The problem is every other contender has 2-3 all-star caliber guys, we rely on Lebron to make up the difference (he's good enough to do it for the most part)

Lebron is like Shaq used to be. You put him on any team in the league right now he would likely go deep in the playoffs IMO.

I don't know if we can win it all right now.
There's a lot lacking from this team..
And even saying Lebron can carry the team isn't sound enough for me..
Teams know how to defense him..just wait for that good ole high pic- n- roll and clog the lane..
We need help..help to take the pressure off him..we need another scorer.
The 2 spot is weak..I SURE AS HECK AM not looking to Sasha to suddenly become this go to guy when he really hasn't shown that .
Yeah the Cavs had their chances but couldn't take advantage of the opportunities...
While some will say we can win it all with what we have..if the Cavs sputter in a critical game or series that prevents them from winning it all..then it has to be fixed..
Inconsistant shooting/execution/coaching will not get it done..
And the GM said the parts don't fit..

I agree that he did not do well in those six games and missed some shots he should have made, but he also drew 2 and 3 defenders on him at all times... Look at what the claimed best player in the world (Kobe Bryant) does when that happnes to him, nothing. With another night in and night out 20 point scorer on our team that will lessen the amount of double and triple teams that Bron sees. So we do NEED to make a move and now

I don't deny we need to get better. Thats a constant for every team every year.

I'm just saying we can win with what we have.

I am not in a hurry to do something now. LeBron and the gang can make it to the deadline without tanking, we know that for sure. The market doesn't show a perfect fit for the Cavs anymore. I could live with waiting and finding that guy we wanted all along just isn't meshing well and his team is playing poorly. That is where you rob other teams. They start thinking draft and you start thinking gold.
