You know, we can win it all now.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My problem is not so much that we can't make it. It's that we can't make it without Lebron exerting more effort than humanly possible and basically putting the team on his back for yet another season. I don't know about you guys but the mileage that we are putting on this guy gives me pause. I worry about his long term health and his overall mental state, having to go well over 40 a game to keep us in contention. A healthy squad would go a long way to helping him out but lets not pretend that there won't be some kind of set back in that department. I also want him to exert a little less on the offensive end so that he can become a DPOY candidate which I am fully confident, he is going to be contingent on him having some offensive help.

^^ Yup.. To much for one player..

A. I doubt we can make it, because the book is out on how to stop this team from a team defensive effort..

B. We don't have guys that will show up in the big games.. You can't count on Z, Wally, Sasha etc... to come through in big games.. I just don't see it..

I don't agree with that, I just think that's how good the Celtics defense is. The book can be out on them, but other teams executing that defense like Boston did isn't going to happen. Boston's team defense was just that good.

Lots of teams have tried the same thing, but Boston was the only team really able to pull it off.

we definitely need to do something, just not anything drastic...we dont want a trade to blow up in our face and we become a bad team. We need to make a couple small moves, and imo we should wait until the deadline to make a big move to bring in another star possibly. Because i believe if this team goes through camp together, and nobody gets injured like last year, then we can sure as hell make it to the deadline with a good record. At least this year we dont have to worry about any holdouts, thank god. Once we get to the deadline and all the pretenders realize that they arent getting in the playoffs, thats when we make our move, because by then andy cant veto a trade, and also pavs stock should go up if he improves this offseason, and we will be in perfect position to snag a good player.

The "mileage" on Lebron is why I said we need help..we know it comes down to him having to do just about everything..
Once we get a reliable scorer and a guard who can handle the rock, you'll see him become a more dangerous threat because he'll be put in situations that he can take advantage of..

VC isn't a lot of things...but he is a scorer. And I think West will be getting to run the "offense" a lot this upcoming season.

Yeah, LeBron needs to not carry such a heavy load, but what makes you think that he won't stay just as busy trying to make the team better with a better player? He is a winner who hasn't won in the NBA yet and wants to very much. I doubt that he wants to not play as hard as he has. Eventually he might get tired of it, but I don't see it happening yet, not before he wins a title.

NO, this team is not good, it's LeBron who is the best player in the NBA thats what makes this team a playoff contender every year, dont fool yourselves.

Rapp it's not that James won't play hard..it's he won't have to continually play 40+ minutes.
I saw too many times James should have been sitting and he HAD to be in there to secure a win.
That shouldn't be happening.

Thats kinda an oxymoron.

I think our team has several solid role players.

The problem is every other contender has 2-3 all-star caliber guys, we rely on Lebron to make up the difference (he's good enough to do it for the most part)

Lebron is like Shaq used to be. You put him on any team in the league right now he would likely go deep in the playoffs IMO.

I'm with Benedict on this one. With the exception of Z, we only have a few good role players, that is, players who wouldn't start on good NBA teams but who would be good coming off the bench of good NBA teams. The best of the role players is West, or perhaps Gibson if he develops a bit more. But there's widespread recognition that neither one of them is starter material on a top team. Same goes for Varejao, though he's about to come off our books it appears. Same goes for Wallace at this stage of his career; same goes for Joe Smith. Maybe you'd have to include Pavolvic as a decent role player, though that's not even clear at this point. The rest of the litter, D. Jones, Wally, etc., is hanging on by the proverbial fingertips.

Yes, Lebron can take us a long way, but not all the way. There just isn't enough talent around him, at least in my humble opinion.

I agree lets not go out and spend too much on an aging star who might bring negative vibes to the organizations/locker room aka Baron Davis. Lets bring in pieces that will help Lebron be Lebron and not lessen what Lebron brings to the table every night. James Posey would be a good addition for example. If not someone like that at least someone who can finish on a fast break. Besides Devin Brown, I would say Delonte is the 2nd best finisher on the fast break with a man in front of him. Sasha should be 2nd on the team but sometimes plays like a woman. I'm afraid to admit it but we actually missed Devin Brown in the playoffs after his benching.

Sasha should be 2nd on the team but sometimes plays like a woman.

Let's not forget that he also puts his head down and gets wildly out of control and gets a charge or his shot rejected almost every time he drives. Then, it effects his emotions and he plays like a wet noodle for the rest of the game.

I disagree with the first post here. We can't win it all now.

What happens when we claim that we CAN win it all is that we say:

(1) IF we'd have gotten by Boston

(2) IF we hadn't had so many injuries

(3) IF we'd have had Sasha and AV for the whole season

(4) IF LBJ hadn't had such a poor first few games of the playoffs.

Come on guys. This team right now is not capable of winning a championship. Is it capable of beating the Celtics? Maybe. Is it capable of beating the Pistons? Maybe. The Spurs? Not sure.

There's no chance this team could string together playoff wins against all those teams as is. This season is do or die time for Ferry.

We're not winning the championship without another star. I really don't see how an argument can be made otherwise.

LA has three stars, including the 2nd best player in the league, and they lost.

There's a little luck involved with any championship win. When Boston got the Big 3, I thought there was no way all three of those guys would stay healthy all year. Guess what: except for some minor injuries, they did. If Gibson hadn't gotten hurt in the BOS/CLE series, who knows how that Game 7 would've turned out. Look at what made the difference: freakin' PJ Brown. Not an All-Star but a solid rotational guy who got some lucky bounces at the right time to reward his effort.

So I think whenever someone says "We can win it all now" about the Cavs, it's in no way saying there's not room to improve to make it even more likely. It's just that, with the roster we have now, these things would need to happen: 1) Lebron goes 30/7/7 the whole way, 2) the role players do just about everything right, and 3) we get a few lucky bounces.

To really get us over the hump, I think all we need is ONE offensive powerhouse of a player. That's it.
