Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Here is to hoping our new STO deal can help us retain Frankie. Even if it is a few years out.

:alc:

Anyone else find interesting that Kipnis’ epiphany was self-discovered? Maybe if our hitting coach would make an adjustment every seven years, he would have made a similar suggestion.

I'm 50/50 at this point that TVB actually exist and not just a made up name to give Francona more money.

I’m in a different school of thought; hitting is about being comfortable, and a self-tweak for comfortability isn’t coming from a coach where a redesign should.

It is alarming though that it seems Kips issue is that he was pretty much forcing pulls when ahead in the count and that IS something the hitting coach should push on not doing.

You mean, in a contract year he's finding his stroke?

Quote from Kipnis regarding his adjustment. This was after the Sunday 6/16 game

“It is a good sign. I credit it back to (Saturday) night’s game in the last at-bat, when I found something. It was a strikeout, but I found something with my hands. So I went to bed (Saturday) night with at least some hope for today. And you get through the tough times and the shitty games to get to these good ones, I think. So I came today with what I found (Saturday) night and went right back to where I was happy about it and you saw, when the hands align, it moves my contact point back, which means it’s going to be fewer rollovers, fewer ground balls to the right side. I know everybody’s going to be thrilled about that if that were to stop. I think you’re just seeing the hitter that I used to be and can be. It’s still in there. So I’m excited to see where we go from here. This is day one. I want to see where we go now because I’m excited.”

Again, it was a discovery that he made. Also, keep in mind that Kip made comments last October of how much more prepared the Astros hitters were than the Indians hitters regarding scouting reports.

Other people starting to turn on Van Burkleo?

I was referring to recent events. Not 20 days ago. Having Detroit Twice, KC twice and Baltimore right before the All Star break is what the team needed to get back into the standings.

MLB is starting to get a tanking issue that resembles the NBA.

You play the team in front of you. Aside from the road series in Chicago, they've played damn good baseball for a month now.

My post wasn't meant to be an attack on the 2019 Cleveland Indians led by manager Terry Francona

Somehow, Cincinnati has +48 run differential and a record of 36-40 lol

They have the 7th best Pyth record (43-33) in the MLB. They are 13-6 in blowouts and 12-16 in one run games. The 28 one run games are tied for first in the MLB. Very unfortunate record to start the season.

The Tribe has the 12th best Pyth record (42-36) going 12-13 in blowouts and 9-7 in one run games with a +24 run diff as a comparison.

In 2016 the Rangers had a record of 95-67 with a Pyth record of 82-80 based on a +8 run diff. They were 18-24 in blowouts and 36-11 in one run games. Toronto swept them in the playoffs.

In 2017 the Indians had a 108-54 Pyth record and . . . well . . . there goes my argument.
