Your Favorite Non-All-Star Non-Cavalier Player

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I really liked Brandon Roy before the injuries. The end of his career was hard to watch
While the Cavs have always been my favorite team, it was those early Portland teams with Roy, Martell Webster, LMA, and Travis Outlaw that really got my interest in the NBA as a whole going

Yeah that was a really fun team. Forgot about Webster! He was cool. Outlaw was scrappy. I always wanted him on the Cavs

When I started playing, I use to go to the Twinsburg Public Library and check out any and all VHS tapes with basketball highlights

We're talking Superstars Vol 1, 2 & 3, NBA Rising Stars with Tim Hardaway and Alonzo Mourning narrating (this one had a segment on Mark Price and Thunder Dan), Super Slams of the NBA with all the dunkers like David Robinson, Sir Charles, Patrick Ewing, Shawn Kemp, Tom Chambers, Larry Nance and my favorite from this VHS, Chocolate Thunder, and some I cant even remember...

I always walked away disappointed because my favorite player to watch would only be shown in others highlights.

A better true point guard than Kenny Anderson, Mookie Blaylock or even Mark Jackson for my early-mid 90's floor general loving beating heart

Rod Strickland

I gauge all point guards since to him to determine if their really a floor general or not (most are not). I STILL cant believe he didnt make any All Star teams.

My #2 choice for this would be Barberton's own Alvin Robertson, but I believe he made a few all star games and won defensive player of the year before Payton did it like a decade later.

The first true POINT GOD, Rod Strickland remains my all time favorite non Cav, non All Star player

It’s PJ Tucker or Alex Caruso for me. I’m a always a huge fan of players who play with heart, do the little things that don’t show on the stat score, and they win games for you.

If old school, Chuck Person.

Non-Cav, non-allstar? There's a few who come to mind.

JJ Redick. I hate Duke and I hated him coming out. He really turned himself into a reliable professional. Peaking his PPG in year 14. Career 41% 3P%. Consummate professional, until the end when he went a little nuts and tried to strongarm Griff in Nola.

PJ Tucker. For reasons already mentioned. He also wasn't undrafted. FYI.

Michael Carter-Williams. I love 6'5 PGs who play defense and build brick houses. It's my fetish.

CJ McCollum.

CJ - Crazy to think he hasn't been an all-star (yet). Didn't realize he's from Canton, Ohio.

JJ - went badass with the tattoos in Philly. Coach K guys always do well in the league.

PJ - (Pops Junior) was always the guy you knew would be guarding LeBron. Scrappy vet who many of us wanted as a trade target during the Amare Safari. If only Okoro could translate to PJ.

MCW - not much memorable about him other than his name.

He was at Glenoak. Funny looking little guy with big feet. Had no idea he would grow into his body like he did. Reminded me of Dru Joyce playing off Bron at St V when I first saw him.

From my days of living in Portland, I liked Dave Twardzik. Helped
the Walton led Blazers to a championship and played dirt dog tough
ala Delly.
Good analogy with Delly, but Twardzik was bigger (6 5) and better offensively, near all-star level for their championship year. He also played small forward.

He and Koufos crossed over for a bit if I remember correctly. Weird pairing given how their pro careers turned out

If I could retroactively say Luke Travers prior to the draft, I would.

If we are doing a sub set of favorite non cav, non all star from Canton, mine is Gary Grant.

Crazy thing about Grant was that his skill level was the same as a high school junior as it was as a veteran NBA player.

I don't which is crazier, how good he was at 16 or how he never really improved after.

I'm a Joe Ingles guy. Receding hairline... Seemingly unathletic... Relatively solid player in all aspects of the game on a winning team (pre-injury/trade)... Can hit threes at an all-NBA clip... Good passer... Good shit-talking game...

Man, I would love the pre-injury version of him on the Cavs right now. He'd slide in perfectly as our SF.

The guy looks like he smokes at halftime.
