I understand the sentiment of keeping Jamison and trying to make a push for the 8th playoff seed, and I'm sure that's what Gilbert will likely try to do, but that's the wrong thing to be doing..
If I had any say in it, I'd ship Jamison out and just let the young guys play and carry this team to a 20-win season..
I understand Gilbert has ticketholders to please but the longer we hold onto Jamison, Varejao, Mo, etc., the longer it's going to take for this team to be rebuilt and back competing again...
If Jamison does stay on the team, then him playing a super-6th man role is fine by me... The problem is that, at this point in his career, he's almost strictly a 4-man and really doesn't have too much business playing the 3... And with JJ at the 4 right now and likely to eat up a good chunk of the minutes, that should just make it easier to trade Jamison..
It's ultimately doing the team a disservice to try and compete and just further push back the rebuilding, as well as Jamison to try and keep him around to be a 6th man on a 30-win team when he should be trying to compete for a ring..
I'd be weary of hanging onto him past the deadline because of the looming lockout and new CBA and who knows what that could bring... The sooner they ship him out, the better for both Jamison and the Cavs...
