Z signs with cavs 5 yrs 55-60 million

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm real curious to see how this contract is structure. Basically Z got what he wanted a max contract for 3-4 years just spread out over 5.

The first is going to be around 9-10 million but I seriously doubt the 5 is guarenteed unless he meets incentives (minimum number of games played) the first 3 years of the deal

Good to see Z back even though I thought we could have had him for 10 million a year and not 11.5

wtf....lol...I can't wait to hear Reghi try to sound like he has some international flavor and pronounce martynas and sarunas' name's wrong until they correct him. Remember the Varejao dilemma last year? it's Va ray hoe 2 weeks later va ray chow 2 more weeks Va ray jean lol sometime should be fun to see how he butchers Sarunas and Martynas' names this year..

Got this from my mate Randolph Keys of Sane Cavs Talk.

From the guy who might be the Cavs newest beatwriter from http://www.nbadraft.net

Mr. Nick Prevenas...

The Atlanta Hawks, the Chicago Bulls (depending on what happens with Eddy Curry) and the Seattle Sonics had all shown interest in Ilgauskas, driving up his market value to the aforementioned $52-57 million range. Sign-and-trade deals were also rumored, but the Cavs made it clear that resigning Ilgauskas was a major priority this off-season.
Just for the non believers.......

With the exception of Z's first year, he has not been surrounded with NBA calibur talent. Maybe a Andre Miller here or a Ricky Davis there, but usually he had several NBDL players on the floor with him at all times. This will be the first time Z has had savvy, quick NBA players around him. I think we will all be in for a pleasant surprise.

Food for thought.....

Very True, the days of Smush Parker Tierre Brown Cedric Henderson and most recently Desagana Diop are over. We have the NEWEST trio of nba talent. LeBron James - Triple double threat nightly, amazing vision, leadership, basketball IQ, and playing within the team make this guy the best player in the NBA yeah I said it. Larry Hughes - Another Triple Double Threat as he did a few times last year, All NBA Defensive 1st team, 22 6 4 3 very impressive can adequately guard three positions on the floor and run the point if needed. Zydrunas Ilgauskas - The perfect compliment to the 2 previously mentioned players draws many fouls allowing him to get to the line and keep star big men on the opposing bench. Great mid range jumper can score in bunches, finally have an Inside/Outside threat with these 3. Now if he and Martynas can place a few phone calls to fellow countryman Sarunas Jasikevicius and we are officially title contenders.

Very astute signing by the Cavalier's. I know for a fact there are some disppointed West teams hoping Ilgauskas would walk looking for a new oppotunity. My ole buddy, Danny Ferry is sending shivers down many a spine right now with this budding roster.

I'm just ringing the same bells as most, so I'll make it quick: good signing, now go after Sarunas and worry about Gooden after that. If we can work a quality deal, great. If not, I'd like to see what Mike Brown can do with Gooden.

After years of feeling cursed, I feel like we're a little blessed right now that all these cards are falling into place.

Ricky, whatever man....Kevin Ollie has a double figure contract. Fact is, he got less than $10 mil THIS year which I am happy about. Good move if it is in fact true! And Im still confused about who would offer him a max contract but whatever...

Agreed so the point is either AD or Sauranus Im guessing...

Kevin Ollie did not get double figures..

Over five years maybe, I am talking per year. Which the avg of Zs deal is over 10.

It seems like it doesnt take much to get you confused.

Ricky, Z is going to make less than $10 mil this year - like i said. Leave it alone dude. I was right....No kidding he is going to make more his later years, all I cared about what this year...I wanted $8 mil this year, and it looks like he got $9 mil, which is ok with me. $6 mil left, which is a little more than the MLE if we can't get Sauranus we can offer more than what other teams can with their MLE which is good.

Let it go Ricky, you were wrong, it's ok!!! You can twist it whatever way you want but he wasn't getting (five?) max offers, and he is not making double digits this year in salary. Great contract Ferry!!!! Now go get us a point guard.

if Tractor ain't too pissed about being cut, I would say bring him back. He played hard. If we do sign for Saurnaus, then we would still have about $3 mil left and could offer him a little more than he was going to make. before we cut him....

Are you 15 years old or something? 56 is right, you are wrong. It's OK to be wrong -- you are just another dork on a message board (like we all are), you know?

Let's get Saras, then sign Reggie Evans.

Reggie Evans isn't a bad idea. He'd probably be dirt cheap. I just remember him attacking the boards at Iowa -- what kind of defender is he?

The games I've seen, he's another Dennis Rodman. Without the headcase

I've heard that the 5th year in Z's contract is only guaranteed if he meets certain incentives. This is great for the Cavs, because in his 4th year, we can deal him to a team looking for an expiring contract.

Good point Wingate - Z will be good trade bait in year 4. And they kept his first year down which is the key. Like Cleveland56 said, this will be helpful to have more than the MLE if we don't get Sarunas. Everyone stop getting so worked up, the Cavaliers are much better today than they were last week. And it will only get better with $6 mill still in Ferry's hands!
