"A source close to Zaza Pachulia said the Bucks' free-agent forward will sign an offer sheet with an Eastern Conference team on Thursday. Pachulia and Marc Fleisher, his agent, have steadfastly refused to say which team had made the offer."

We need a backup center. What are the chances the Cavs picked up Zaza? Perhaps Ferry has them being all hush, hush about it b/c he still hopes to pull off a trade for Jaric, and doesn't want the other teams to know we just blew all of our cap space on Zaza. If he did pick up Zaza and managed to still swing a trade for Jaric, that'd be pretty impressive.

This was mentioned on PacersDigest, I think it's very strange that they didn't come out and state who the offer was from. Unless it is the Hawks and there just embarrased to say so lol

we don't have the money right now to make an offer. Doubtful it was us.

yeah, if we did this move, we virtually have no more cap space to sign "A" PG, let alone a good one.

If we did sigh Pachulalia which I doubt, then Gooden is good as gone in sign and trade or straight up trade for PG

Unless somehow by the grace of god deal newble and a future 2nd and our trade exception and paid Jaric a low amount of $ on his first year, and more towards the end of his deal OR we are going after Damon Jones, or Damon Stoudamire, or Earl Watson.

I highly doubt we signed him. AV and Zaza would be gret together in the second unit though. Unless we are trading Drew, Zaza doesnt have a place on the team.

I doubt we signed him just because I think Ferry recognizes that pg is a bigger priority and that signing him really ties his hands at the pg, but why can't Zaza fit on this team with Drew? Say Ferry pulls off the trade CDT mentions of Jaric for Newble and a second rounder. Our lineup would look like this:

Jaric/Snow
Hughes/Jackson
James/Pavs
Gooden/Marshall/AV
Z/Zaza/AV

I don't see any reason why you wouldn't take that 11 man rotation. Luke and Sasha are more desirable as trade bait then Ira. Swap out Luke or Sasha and swap in Ira and that 11 man rotation is still stout.

Again, you're right though, it seems unlikely that Ferry would sign Zaza and tie his hands like that.

I guess that would work. But I would hate the idea of having AV's minutes cut.

Hmmm. Just doing some calculations, and it would be pretty tough to get all 5 their minutes:

30 Z
18 Gooden
18 Marshall
15 AV
15 Zaza

Still, that's some nice depth. Sure would be some nice insurance against foul trouble and injuries. Finding them all minutes would be a nice problem to have!

I think I saw Pachulia play a few minutes last year, but I don't have any feel for his overall game, assuming he has one. Anybody know enough about him to share an appraisal of his game? Thanks in advance.

I don't know much about pachulia, I have seen limited amounts of him. From what I saw he's an energy player, who makes his living on hustle.

 Thats a good summary.

My guess is that this is a bullshit rumor to try and squeeze more money out of w/e team is interested in him.

Zaza was also a little concerned that In Milwaukee he would receive limited minutes. Now why would he come to Cleveland and receive even less? We dont have the funds to make an offer that wouldn't be matched. Any small offer would be matched by the Bucks as he does have some value. Personally, I would prefer a more physical presense, but he is a good talent.

The Cavs are not the team making Zaza the offer. Like Karma referred to, he's looking to go someplace where he can get more minutes. That wouldn't be here. The Cavs also can't afford to use up all their cap space to make an offer for a backup C who's a restricted FA.

My guess is that Atlanta might be the team that made the offer. They need a C badly and have tons of money left to spend.
