2016 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, Day makes a ton of sense and would explain the Chip Kelly rumors as well.

I'm surprised we have heard next-to-no rumblings about Schiano moving on. If we are able to retain him for another year, that's a HUGE victory in itself.

He took his shot at a few jobs but those universities went in a different direction (Willie Taggert at Oregon and Charlie Strong at USF).

It will be Schiano's last season here, next year. But Schiano will be back next year, especially with Fickell gone. Schiano serves as defacto DC even though Billy Davis will have a lot of input, then Schiano will take head coaching gig elsewhere, and Billy Davis most likely moves into the box after Schiano departs.

Wouldn't be surprised if Schiano stayed 2 more years so that his twin sons who are sophomores finish out their schooling at Columbus Academy. The Schiano's really like the school and the area.

Love the hires.

Absolute home runs.

With Wilson and Day reportedly being co-coordinators, I'm guessing Ed Warinner is likely being told to seek employment elsewhere.

I hope that's not the case. Sure, he was a piss-poor play caller but when he had a focused position, he developed Linsley, Mewhort, and Norwell all into current NFL starters.

It's obvious our O-line needs a bit more attention. He should be able to help with that.

Agreed it'd be great to keep Ed on as O-line coach but it just gets too sticky when you take into account his promotion and increase in salary, with then demoting him to O-line coach, but paying him as an OC.

Keep in mind Kevin Wilson, prior to being an OC at Oklahoma, was an O-line coach as well. You've got 3 guys with O-line coach experience, which is probably too redundant.

Based on Greg Studrawa's salary and relationship with Meyer, it'd seem Warriner is the odd man out.

Official announcement of Ryan Day....

http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-...yan-day-as-quarterbacks-coach-and-coordinator

Ohio State's replacement for Tim Beck is an old colleague of Urban Meyer.

Year Team Duty
2002 New Hampshire Tight Ends
2003-04 Boston College Graduate Assistant
2005 Florida Graduate Assistant
2006 Temple Wide Receivers
2007–11 Boston College Wide Receivers
2012 Temple Offensive Coordinator
2013–14 Boston College Offensive Coordinator
2015 Philadelphia Eagles Quarterbacks
2016 San Francisco 49ers Quarterbacks

Ryan Day is next in line to coach the quarterbacks, the school announced Tuesday morning. Bruce Feldman of FOX SPORTS first reported the news. Day steps in for Beck, who according to the Buckeyes "is pursuing other opportunities." Beck reportedly left to work with Tom Herman at Texas.

Day, 37, partially cut his teeth under Meyer in 2005 as a graduate assistant. That was Meyer's first season as the head coach at Florida and the Gators went 9-3, winning the Outback Bowl over Iowa. It was Day's third season as a graduate assistant at the Division I level — he worked at Boston College in 2003-04. Day's first coaching job came a year earlier at New Hampshire, where he coached tight ends. At Boston College, Day helped turn running back Andre Williams into a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2013.

Day spent the 2016 season in San Francisco working with Chip Kelly and the 49ers. He coached quarterbacks there for Kelly, doing the same thing a year earlier during the former head coach's final season with the Philadelphia Eagles. The 49ers fired Kelly on Sunday, so it makes sense that Day would move on too.

Day played for Kelly (then an offensive coordinator) at the University of New Hampshire, where he set four career records. He has worked with quarterbacks, wide receivers, tight ends and offenses during his entire football career.
