Kyrie Irving Trade Ideas

I like how some of you guys are certain that LAC would pull a trigger in a such a trade. No way they trade CP3 for Kyrie straight up.

LeBron James literally says "I want to play with Chris Paul" and I'm supposed to take your version? Pass.

And btw, I'm really waiting for the "winner" gene to kick in at any moment.

If the front office is hell bent on trying to win a title at all costs, I don't see how one can make an argument to trade Love for a guy like Melo, but not Kyrie for a guy like Chris Paul.
Who is 'one' proposing Love-Melo trade? Not me; it obviously must be LeBron James cuz in the same article that he said he wanted to play with Paul he said he wanted to play with Melo. Why is one valid and one not?

Again, dude is just talkin' to hear himself talk.

Irving is obviously not playing to the level of last year, but I (not you) still take him over James, Love and yes, Chris Paul when the game is on the line.

We will all see how things play out. Until then, I'll pass on your opinion of Chris Paul as well, if you don't mind.

Nate Duncan and Danny Leroux did a pod a couple of weeks ago where they rated the players with the most trade value, and they pretty much agreed on Kyrie with the 6th most value in the league. This is of course largely based on age and contract.

I think that's a reasonable estimate, and something we should keep in mind when evaluating what they could get for him.

Until a few moments ago, I had never even seen this thread, but had wondered whether a trade centered on Kyrie and Wall had been proposed by anyone. Based on the relative value of the two, you could reasonably expect to get something else in the deal.

I am not advocating trading Kyrie. I don't mean to imply that. But Wall would get you a pure point guard who would allow LeBron to play off the ball more, where has shown that he is so effective. The Wall-LeBron pick and roll would quickly be a standard play. Wall is also obviously much better than Kyrie defensively. And he is still locked up for 3 more years, at a lower cap figure, which is a key point. He has shot over 35% this year from 3 on relatively high volume.

Washington coaching staff and maybe front office are going to be shaken up, so it's conceivable they look to move in a different direction.

Of course, there's now also the Rich Paul angle.

Again, I'm not advocating this deal, but if it becomes apparent that either Irving or Love or both will be dealt, well, I think pairing Wall and Love would likely work better than Love and Irving.

Trading Kyrie for another PG (especially one that can't shoot) makes little-to-no sense to me. The only way you trade Kyrie for another PG is if you're getting a more talented player or if you're getting a guy that's fits better and is equally talented.

You trade Kyrie for preferably a stud at SG. Butler and Giannis being the ideal two IMHO.

My idea:

Kyrie for Gobert and Burks

Start Delly, Burks, James, Love, and Gorbert.

Burks would be a good young SG who can shoot the three. This lineup would be significantly better defensively and would crush teams on the boards.

We'll see how the playoffs go, but if the Cavs disappoint then I expect a trade to happen.

From the three stars, I would only trade Kyrie. LeBron is LeBron and Love is one of the best passing big men in the league and a GREAT fit with a LeBron team.
Kyrie's scoring first and defensive liability makes him the obvious choice from the three and he would also bring back more value in a trade imo.

Kyrie + something for CP3

Love + CP3 + LeBron is insane passing and scoring + a defensive upgrade.

Dude...wtf...

This is terrible. Why is everyone insistent on trade scenarios where we give up an All-Star for scraps? If Kyrie gets traded, it would be for another star like CP3, Wall, etc.

John Wall would be a terrible fit next to LeBron.

Teams would just pack the paint and dare them to shoot from the perimeter.

The other guards need to be able to be perimeter threats when playing next with LeBron.

The Kyrie and LeBron problems this year have basically been because of that.

So now fans think they just can't play together. Well, it worked out fine last year, right?

When Kyrie was hitting his shot from the perimeter last year they made it work.

You just have to trade the tandem of shump and kyrie imo..

You need to play shump if kyrie is playing and at this point you've provided playoff opponents a five on four on both sides of the court..

I think we roll with Frye and love long term and shore up defense at the 1 and look fur a more balanced team.

I'd still love Paul, I just don't know if it would work or what else we could do.. But it can't be kyrie

Walls' 3 point shot has progressed a lot though: he shot 35% which is tied for his career best while almost doubling the number of 3 point shots he takes. (he actually shot better then Irving this year).

Wall, Delly, Lebron would be a hell of a defensive triad at the wings. I don't either team would do it but an Irving/Shumpert for Wall/Porter trade would be a very nice combo to put around James and would allow you to swing him to the 4 consistently

Gobert is really good.

He's a 7'2 23 year old center who will probably be a mainstay on all NBA defensive teams in the future.

you guys worship the spurs yet discount continuity and look for flippant roster moves to solve everything.

Irving was out for a substantial amount of time this season . the expectations are unreal.

Spurs didn't win 5 championships by trading out core players .

Open to discussion but what spur was ever worst in the league in defense?

Or shot 30%?

Shot 30% doesn't apply to Kyrie Irving.. or do you mean individual games? Spurs have 10 players since 1990 shoot 30% or less in over 100 games each.
Irving has shot less than 30% 37 times I 4 seasons. Lebron in his first 4 years had 38 games shooting 30% or less..

30 is shump, who's required to play if we're putting out kyrie

Wall and LeBron's strengths are too similar. If you have them on the same team, one has to take away from the other.

Do you want to take away with what Wall does best?

What LeBron does best?

This is why I've always been hesitant to even do a CP3 trade. I know CP3 is better. But again, one would have to take away from the other.

That's why I still think a Kyrie fits in best with LB when it comes to guards. His primary objective is to score. Which is fine.

He just needs to tweak/clean up other parts of his game.

Having another guard that can punish the defense helps LeBron out a lot. You need a guy like that.
