Who is 'one' proposing Love-Melo trade? Not me; it obviously must be LeBron James cuz in the same article that he said he wanted to play with Paul he said he wanted to play with Melo. Why is one valid and one not?LeBron James literally says "I want to play with Chris Paul" and I'm supposed to take your version? Pass.
And btw, I'm really waiting for the "winner" gene to kick in at any moment.
If the front office is hell bent on trying to win a title at all costs, I don't see how one can make an argument to trade Love for a guy like Melo, but not Kyrie for a guy like Chris Paul.
Nate Duncan and Danny Leroux did a pod a couple of weeks ago where they rated the players with the most trade value, and they pretty much agreed on Kyrie with the 6th most value in the league. This is of course largely based on age and contract.
I think that's a reasonable estimate, and something we should keep in mind when evaluating what they could get for him.
Until a few moments ago, I had never even seen this thread, but had wondered whether a trade centered on Kyrie and Wall had been proposed by anyone. Based on the relative value of the two, you could reasonably expect to get something else in the deal.
I am not advocating trading Kyrie. I don't mean to imply that. But Wall would get you a pure point guard who would allow LeBron to play off the ball more, where has shown that he is so effective. The Wall-LeBron pick and roll would quickly be a standard play. Wall is also obviously much better than Kyrie defensively. And he is still locked up for 3 more years, at a lower cap figure, which is a key point. He has shot over 35% this year from 3 on relatively high volume.
Washington coaching staff and maybe front office are going to be shaken up, so it's conceivable they look to move in a different direction.
Of course, there's now also the Rich Paul angle.
Again, I'm not advocating this deal, but if it becomes apparent that either Irving or Love or both will be dealt, well, I think pairing Wall and Love would likely work better than Love and Irving.
Trading Kyrie for another PG (especially one that can't shoot) makes little-to-no sense to me. The only way you trade Kyrie for another PG is if you're getting a more talented player or if you're getting a guy that's fits better and is equally talented.
You trade Kyrie for preferably a stud at SG. Butler and Giannis being the ideal two IMHO.
My idea:
Kyrie for Gobert and Burks
Start Delly, Burks, James, Love, and Gorbert.
Burks would be a good young SG who can shoot the three. This lineup would be significantly better defensively and would crush teams on the boards.
Open to discussion but what spur was ever worst in the league in defense?you guys worship the spurs yet discount continuity and look for flippant roster moves to solve everything.
Irving was out for a substantial amount of time this season . the expectations are unreal.
Spurs didn't win 5 championships by trading out core players .
Shot 30% doesn't apply to Kyrie Irving.. or do you mean individual games? Spurs have 10 players since 1990 shoot 30% or less in over 100 games each.Open to discussion but what spur was ever worst in the league in defense?
Or shot 30%?
30 is shump, who's required to play if we're putting out kyrieShot 30% doesn't apply to Kyrie Irving.. or do you mean individual games? Spurs have 10 players since 1990 shoot 30% or less in over 100 games each.
Irving has shot less than 30% 37 times I 4 seasons. Lebron in his first 4 years had 38 games shooting 30% or less..
