Explain to me how he's a winner? What exactly has he been winning lately?

More than the dude in your sig Braxton Miller.

Not to mention when someone refers to you as just being a winner and having moxie, it usually means you suck and were blessed to be around elite talent some time in your career. In Colt's case, Texas.

That's such a dumb argument. Yeah Colt had Orakpo on the defensive side and Shipley, Ogbannaya, Limas Sweed, Jermichael Finley, Jamal Charles, Billy Pittman, Selvin Young, Lyle Sendlein, Kasey Studdard, Justin Blalock, and Quinn Cosby on the offensive end. You wouldn't be recruited to a school like Texas without having TALENT. Throw your boy Braxton Miller or Prior on that team and they wouldn't do what Colt did. I'm failing to see this abundance of NFL talent you speak of. Most of the guys drafted/undrafted aren't even in the league anymore from his teams. They were so good though according to you.

Tell that to former Texas punter Richmond McGee.

You're criticizing the guy in my sig, when the guy in your avatar is the worst player on a 20 win NBA team. Not to mention I put the sig in before the guy made one start in College.. Clearly means I think he's the best player ever.

Who the fuck cares what he did in college? Can't wait to see Case Keenum bring his 'winner' attribute to the NFL, and Kellen Moore. Because clearly, winning college games translates into NFL success. Also forgot how Texas is a terrible college and recruits poorly. How did Colt manage to do what he did with no one around him in a spread offense? Texas isn't the most high profile football school out there or anything..

Colt's had a good year despite poor protection and poor productivity from his recievers and backs

Richmond McGee had more talent than a lot of other punters who didn't even get a look at by an NFL team.

Lol okay, well then tell it to Joe Bauserman or the plethora of other QBs at college powerhouse teams that don't have a chance of sniffing the NFL. Just because Colt was a QB at a big school does not automatically make him talented enough to be a starter in the NFL. Judging talent based on college scouting is such an asinine argument.

at this point, i'm hoping the rest of this season determines whether or not the ineffectiveness of this offense is coming from mccoy, shurmur's offense, or a combination of the two. i hate the idea of drafting a qb but if colt is the reason why we're sucking the big one, you have to pull the trigger

absolutely colt had talent going to texas, but after he beat out javan snead for the starting QB role his redshirt freshman year there wasnt any real competition after that. Also colt excelled in the college game because he was able to hit the short crossing routes, especially to his butt buddy/roommate jordan shipley. however just because you have college level talent does not mean you have NFL talent (something colt lacks). in college he was able to compensate for his lack of pure talent by keeping plays alive with his legs and his quick release. however without any arm strength NFL defenses are just tearing him apart, and will continue to do so until either A he proves he can throw the ball deep, or B is no longer an NFL QB

And seriously, only "The Optomist" rips on a true freshman QB with less than 10 starts under his belt?

These are the problems that have plagued Browns teams for the past decade. Colt may very well suck, actually, the odds are that he will not be a quality starter at this point. When this type of thing happens rhythmically, you've got to look for the trend behind this to figure out why nobody can succeed here. My conclusion has been for the past four years that the organization must stop playing musical chairs with coaches/front office suits.
\plea

You are right, The problem with the Browns has been not sticking with a plan long enough to see it through. Still we haven't had good enough leaders to stick it out with. Look at the head coaches we had and the highest level they've achieved since us...
Chris Palmer - offensive coordinator
Butch Davis - (disgraced) college head coach
Terry Robiskie - no idea where he is
Romeo Crennel - defensive coordinator
Eric Mangini - tv analyst
Shurmur - nacho vendor?

Now executives
Dwight Clark - out of football
Carmen policy - out of football
Butch Davis - ....
Phil savage- scout for Baltimore
George Kokinis - scout for Baltimore
Tom Heckert - if he were to leave the browns today he'd have another gm job tomorrow.

So yes we don't stick with the regime long enough but the problem has been we've had the wrong people leading the team. None were competent enough to be in the position in the first place.

Thanks for making my point for me.

Good evaluation of talent. Joey Graham, Samardo Samuels, Ryan Hollins, Luke 'the fluke' Harengody, and Semih Erden anyone? Not to mention I put the avy in before the guy made one NBA start/even played a game. Clearly means I think he's the best player ever.

How's Braylon Edwards doing again?

What is anyone even arguing in here anymore?

Well apparently refuting the optomist's original point is also proving him correct. Maybe he just agrees with me now? :shrugs:

The point I made was that Bauserman must have all kinds of NFL talent, since he was recruited by a football power like OSU.

My problems in here started well before that post about proving his point for him...but at that point, I just had no clue what he's even arguing anymore.

I think his point is that he's optimistic about Colt's future, because he went to Texas so he must be good. However he's seen enough of Braxton to tell he's a bust.
