Truth And Rumors (trade deadline talk)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Man, you guys are so hard on Mary. Even when she actually does her job you still slam the poor woman.

The New York Knicks have traded Ronnie Brewer to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a second-round pick. Brewer was just informed of the deal.

Those making fun of MSB for her last tweet:

Deals can still be announced after the 3:00 deadline, so her saying the Cavs have done nothing isn't as obvious as you're making it out to be.

I've seen other teams' beat writers tweet the same thing about their teams, and even national writers tweet something similar.

While your point is valid and I know that the moderators and admins of this site want to maintain a friendly relationship with the Cavaliers' beat reporters, you cannot deny that the lack of any information or activity leading to information is disappointing. And I'm not just talking about the deadline, I'm talking about year-round.

I'm not saying it's her fault because the Cavs didn't make a trade. But what I am saying is that she constantly gives off the impression that she has little to no idea what's going on the Cavs' organization (or anywhere else in the NBA).

Let's hope for a really crazy offseason/draft.

I think this trade deadline is proof the new CBA is making a difference. NO ONE wanted to take on long-term salary. Even the damn Knicks are cutting costs.

Okc should have been looking for deals to help them win a title

Why are they stockpiling picks?? Are they still rebuilding??

They know this team isn't beating the heat

They are basically conceding the season as another loss

OKC understands the new CBA. You can't keep multiple max contract players. Committing to Durant and Westbrook (and likely to Ibaka to some extent), they will need an influx of cheap young talent (draft) to help keep them relevant. Without draft picks, you are basically conceding on blowing up your core rotation after 2-3 years instead of complementing these players through sign and trades and continually being over the tax.

Being over the tax is toxic... and a lot of teams are trying to get under it.

And we're doing the same thing.

I'm just glad the Cavs were the big winners of this trade season. Thanks Memphis!

Atleast we will get Oden after all the dust settles.

Actually the Heat traded Pittman. So they are bringing in Oden.

Although we probably all wanted some type of deadline trade for the Cavs, we can't really complain. We made one of the best (if not the best) trades this season with that Memphis trade. Plus, not only did we turn Leuer into a likely lottery 1st & 2 quality rotation players, but we also turned scrubs like Sloan and Samuels into a great pick-up in Shawn Livingston (and the guy most people wanted to make the team from training camp, Kevin Jones).

I would've loved if we pulled off another trade before the deadline, but we still came out on top IMO.

Deadline past...on to bigger, better things...

Do people still think teams are going to pay Speights 10 million a year? Ridiculous to think that. Teams are reluctant to take on salary. The deadline clearly illustrates that, so the Cavs understand there won't be much of a market for him.

If they really do want him back, then the price is likely not going to be nearly as much. If he walks, well yeah, it'd suck we didn't get something for him. It's not something you lose sleep over though. His trading market was never going to get much back in return.

I have no problem they didn't move him. It's not a real loss or win either way. Unless some team was ready to cough up a lotto pick, which I highly doubt.

The Cavs

Time to fire up the draft threads...

And the Greg Oden talk.

Have we signed him yet?
