I wonder if they would do a straight swap Hamilton for Gee? They do need more defense and would be able to use Gee as a back-up defensive guard like he is meant to be.

We give Gee lots of shit but it is insane that we have had him as our starting 3 for this long.

Golden State very much still needs a backup PG. Tony Douglas and the Euro dude both have been not the kind of steady Mark Jackson prefers. They were just talking about this on the Sirius station. GSW misses Jack and his slashing with the ball style.

They werent jumping into the Kyle Lowry talks just to eat up roll over minutes.

LOL... Toney Douglas. That dude was HORRID in New York. didn't know he was the backup for Golden State.

Did someone post the Fear The Sword article? http://www.fearthesword.com/2013/12...-rumors-cleveland-cavaliers-sellers-sb-nation

I'm on the Jordan Hamilton bandwagon as far as available SFs are concerned. I like MKG though (and still think he would be a great fit on the Kyrie/Waiters Cavs) though w/o a jump shot we might be dealing with another "Gee" situation immediately after he came here.

However...

If OKC really thinks their window is closing and they want to have insurance in case they feel the "Heat" (pun intended), a deal not unlike the first one proposed, I jump on it. PJ3 AND Lamb on the Cavs? That's a lot of young players to throw in the mix but I would love it so much. I feel that has the potential to turn the Cavs into the next Pacers. Lamb would work so well in the spot C.J. Miles currently occupies.

what I loved is that none of those involved a Waiters trade. That proposed Bobcat trade would be doom... Ben Gordon on the Cavs is not exactly something I want to see.

Money doesn't work, Cavs would have to take back at least one more player iirc

Arron Afflalo remains my favorite target for this team. i can't come up with a realistic option who would be a better fit.

very good shooter on a solid contract, he can play SG AND SF (he's spending more time at SF this season than SG...because of Oladipo) so we could play him in lineups with Dion....

like i said imo he would be absolutely perfect. i would love to know what Orlando wants in return for him...

Khris Middleton is my under the radar choice for acquiring a serviceable SF.

I need a beer after that. Sheesh.

I understand AV may be likely to go at the trade deadline but for any of those 5 steaming piles of poo? No Thanks.

The only one I would moderately be interested in is MKG and I'm kind of luke warm on him.

If I thought there was a 50% chance his jumper could be fixed, I'd roll the dice but it seems to be getting worse.

Having a Small Forward that can't do anything outside of 10 feet or so doesn't seem like a recipe for success with two slashing players.

Maybe MKG could get some easy lobs or cuts to the basket when Kyrie or Dion drive but I'd prefer a 3 who could at least consistently stick a 15-17 foot jumper.

The Cavs seem to have the worst luck and or timing in trade discussions. They've spent 18 months with the pieces to make a big move and have watched as approximately zero All-Star caliber players have come on the market. They appear to have missed the window where teams were senselessly moving #2 or #1A options for a package of assets. Gotta hope their patience will ultimately pay off but we'll see.

I would deal try to Tristan for MKG(or Barnes) and move Bennett to the starting rotation. Reading the tea leaves, and possibly I'm wrong, but think there is something to the Rich Paul/TT/LeBron connection that keeps them from even contemplating moving TT now. If one of our non fitting super sub types (TT or Dion) have to be moved would prefer to deal the raw one with less basketball skill. Love Kyrie but really think it's important to have at least one more distributor/scorer on the team at this stage of his development esp with MB as our HC.

Anyway saw this article on ESPN. It discusses the Charlotte Bobcats but could also pertain to our SF situation too:

Could Pierce be on Bobcats' radar? By Joe Kaiser | ESPN.com

This year under first-year head coach Steve Clifford the Bobcats currently have the fourth-best defensive efficiency in the league (97.9), trailing only Indiana, San Antonio and OKC. The problem is their offense, which ranks 28th in the league (96.1), and one way they could address their offensive woes is by acquiring a small forward who can put the ball in the hoop.

Their current options are slim. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is injured and out of the lineup, recovering from a broken finger, and his replacement, second-year man Jeff Taylor, went down Friday with what looked to be a serious Achilles' injury.

According to 82games.com, small forward is far and away the team's biggest weakness this season (-4.2 PER), and that figures to be increasingly true as the Bobcats now must rely on Chris Douglas-Roberts and Anthony Tolliver as fill-ins.

One way to fix the problem, and to take a little pressure off of Kidd-Gilchrist once he returns, would be to bring in a proven scorer who could improve the offense and possibly slide MKG to a sixth-man role.

This is only speculation, but Paul Pierce figures to be readily available following today's news that Brook Lopez is out for the season with a broken foot. That's probably Charlotte's best option.

Here are a few others the Bobcats could target:
Mike Dunleavy
Luol Deng
Jordan Hamilton
Marvin Williams
Nick Young
Xavier Henry

Kidd Gilchrist is Alonzo Gee only a better defender and not as good a shooter. No thanks.

its amazing to me that someone would post about trading for MKG while post an article showing Charlotte in the market for a ...backup to MKG

I thanked this solely for the TT/Paul/LeBron reference daytripper.

I too feel that Bron is keeping Tristan in this lineup by proxy.

Not a fan of MKG unless we have deadeye shooters at the 4, 2 and 1 along with a center who is adept at being moves around on offense and still getting his touches/post game. We currently have the antithesis of this in Bynum, MKG would shrink the floor for him more than Gee would even.

I don't know how much more of the Alonzo Gee nightmare I can take....

If he's still our starting SF past the deadline...god help us.

I'm in on the Aaron Affalo bandwagon, but I think it would take a lot to get him away from Orlando. His stats are a bit inflated this year because he's carrying the load, but he's been a very good shooter and defender his entire career which is exactly what we need.

Kidd Gilchrist is Alonzo Gee only a better defender and not as good a shooter. No thanks.

I wouldn't particularly want him either but have to disagree with this. MKG is a great slasher and finisher. Gee is not. He would definitely make this team better but I agree he isn't the answer at SF.

MKG probably not ideal but I can handle his shooting deficiencies just because he a terror in transition and does have the advantage of having played with Kyrie in H.S. If Bennett is the stretch 4 we all imagine then having MKG start next to AB, Kyrie, and a 3&D SG would be more acceptable than our current frontcourt situation with TT.
