2014 NFL Free Agency Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You let it pass you by because of the bar that it's going to set for Haden's contract. You can't have that much money wrapped up in your cornerbacks.

Fair point... But Revis is better than Haden. Just saying... Locking Haden up long-term doesn't necessarily become a must.

The Revis stuff seems like a 'moo' point.

If he doesn't want to agree to a restructure, I doubt a team would make the leap in trading for him. Dude is a businessman, he wants a wide open market with little elite talent at DB left.

He'll get PAID.

What I don't get about it all is why the Browns are out of it because Revis won't re-structure. Revis has made it abundantly clear he chases the dollar above all else... why wouldn't we just wait until he's cut, come in and offer more than the highest bidder (so long as it's within our range)? Yeah, we might not be his top choice but can you imagine Revis the businessman leaving money on the table to sign somewhere else? I can't.

Of course ESPN will put the Browns out there to make Cleveland look like losers but every team that's inquired about him knows that he will not restructure, and he shouldn't.

C'mon you don't think Philly and Oak were already told the same thing as well? No team has been reported as close to acquiring him yet. Also I love how the Pats lost their best defender in Talib to Denver and that will magicall attract Revis there. If you're revis and your're looking at the defensive personnel on the teams incquiring about him ours is the best.

You... you need to get out of the 216 more if this is what you think. He would be a moron to sign with the Browns over Bill Belicheck.

You mean the guy who called Bill Belicheck a "jerk" on the air when he was with the Jets?

The Patriots>the Browns. No argument there. Saying someone is a moron if they come to the Browns over playing for a douchebag like BB is an extreme opinion.

Patriots are by far and away his best destination to play. Come on, they're trying to win a Super Bowl (and maybe can if they get him), we'd be lucky to get in the playoffs. Situations are clearly different.

Sorry, had to make fun of iRap one more time.

or perhaps the Browns have bowed out seeing he won't restructure and are focusing on other targets instead of wasting their time knowing he won't come here.

Not every mention of Cleveland that ESPN makes is made to put down the city and it's teams.

It kicks in automatically with the trade.

Tough to justify, contractually, given that Haden is the more important re-sign because of his youth.

Exactly. Just most of them.

He was on the Jets, that rivalry is intense. So what if he thinks Belichick is a jerk, that doesn't mean he doesn't seriously think he's a great coach.

To use that as a serious reason why he wouldn't play there is absurd. That douchebag gets players to excel at the highest level. Who ever heard of Talib before he went to the Pats? He was basically a bust, and the Bucs just gave him away. He has 57 million reasons to thank that douchebag Belichick.

The dude is all about getting paid. He held out as a rookie in 2007 and again in 2010. He grumbled about holding out in 2012 and was dealt because NY didn't want to pay him. Now it's 2014 and he's refusing to re-structure for anyone.

From a football standpoint, you're absolutely right that he should sign with the Patriots... but Revis is a businessman. If we offer a contract that beats what New England offers, does his history really suggest that he's willing to settle for less?

Yeah it does. Revis is older, more expensive and has torn his ACL recently. You don't jeopardize Haden just for a couple years of Revis.

Read my post again. Don't think you grasped what I was saying.
