2014 NFL Free Agency Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Judging by your avatar, it sounds like you've got an obvious agenda to push...

Who exactly will Brady be throwing to this year? Knock Edelman out of the equation and they're remarkably even weaker in that regard. Would not be surprised to see a major dropoff for them this year.

He does, he's proven in the past that he's a pretty big Brady fanboy. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but I'd argue that the Pats don't have much more talent, if anymore, than the Browns do. Only difference is that they have had better coaching and a HoF QB. Hall of fame QB covers a lot of talent gaps.

Granted I agree he'll likely end up as a Patriot simply because of the reputation, but I really don't think they're that much better (talent wise). Put Brady on this roster and I bet the Browns were more successful.

As far as going after RBs in FA, I'd rather just draft one in the mid to later rounds. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you can get Williams from BC in the 3rd or 4th I'd be all over that.

Joe Haden going to get FA says alot about his place in this organization & community. Ive always said he was only as good as our fans made him out to be, but the guy is officially #2 on my favorite Browns players.

That was a repost of a picture that Josh Gordon posted hours ago. Probably related to the picture of Gordon, Sheard, Dansby, Whitner and Haden. Don't think it's anything new.

Flight tracker? Kidding. Let's not.

Whiner. Money over winning, I guess. What a joke.

Jared Allen ready to 'walk away' if he doesn't get paid

By Marc Sessler

Is Jared Allen willing to call it quits?

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport told NFL Network on Wednesday that the veteran pass rusher might do exactly that if he doesn't see the money he believes he deserves on the open market.

"He wants his market value, he wants his fair salary, and if he does not get it, Jared Allen is very much at peace," Rapoport said. "... He is willing to simply go about his life and walk away from football."

Initially a free-agent target for the Broncos, the former Minnesota Vikings defensive end watched as DeMarcus Ware, after being released by Dallas on Tuesday, has "essentially jumped in and taken his spot (in Denver)," as Rapoport put it.

Allen, like Ware, belongs to a productive but aging crop of free-agent edge rushers struggling to get paid as teams set their sights on younger targets. After averaging nearly 13 sacks per season during his 10-year career, Allen isn't averse to pulling the plug on his decorated career.

"I will tell you this," Rapoport said. "Jared Allen has a ton of admiration for Barry Sanders, who walked away from football while still having his best, still able to play at a high level. He walked on his own terms, it's something Jared Allen has always respected."

WWe still wonder if a team like Seattle -- currently in talks with Allen -- could nab him for less. After all, the Seahawks offer Allen a chance to do what Sanders, in all his glory, never did: go out a winner.

In the latest edition of the "Around The League Podcast," the guys study the free agency picture with the help of NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

I agree, it's absolutely absurd to think that. This is not basketball, winning in free agency inks teams to the Super Bowl now, please....

Talib was a system player, completely irrelevant before being in the company of the Belichick. Let's not forget, the guy gets hurt in every single meaningful game in his career. Patriots were smart letting him walk for that money. Broncos overpaid badly for him. He's not that good.

Hey Lombo, can we get back on analyzing the Browns? I know this is the Free Agency thread, but there's a RB in the house.
