Carrington via PFF:

We really liked Alex Carrington after something of a breakout 2012. Unfortunately he broke down early into his 2013 season that was set to lay the foundation for a big contract for him. Well now the vultures are circling, seeing a potential bargain in the versatile defensive lineman. Those vultures? According to Ian Rapoport it’s the Rams and perhaps more interesting the Browns. Cleveland are of course now coached by the man who managed the Bills defense last year who will be plenty familiar with Carrington and how he might fit into his scheme. Cleveland aren’t short on defensive line talent, but none of them have the kind of position flexibility as Carrington so it would make a lot of sense. Carrington had a +8.7 grade in 2012.

If bringing in Tate means not drafting a running back, then that alone is worth it.

We should still draft a RB... with Tate's injury history and the scrubs who would be behind him, it couldn't hurt. I think it's more that signing him gives us the ability to not have to draft a RB and count on instant rookie production. In this class, I'd rather take a guy in the 5th than force him in the 2nd.

You can't get by in the NFL without RB depth, but their interest in Tate dates back over a year. Low mileage for an unquestioned talent at the position... just be sure you have 2 capable players behind him.

#2 WR and a guard are still high on my list.

Seems like the Browns are trying to fill up all of their holes in FA. Could this be a sign that they'll try to package some of those high picks to go get the QB of their choice?

Tate, Dion Lewis, and a mid round pick should be enough. RBs have even less value in a zone blocking scheme imo. In the sense that it seems easier to find guys to be effective in the system without investing big dollars.

I remember when I got excited about Frostee Rucker. My how the days have changed... I'll take it, even if it does make me seem like a shallow fan.

basically you run from one sideline to the other twice which equals a gasser...they really suck too

Let's not forget, Dion Lewis is set to return this season.

Though I do agree, I want us to draft a RB with or without Tate, just not in the 1st round or 2.
