Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ty's a playoff coach. it's tough to call him out this season bc he has had basically 3-4 different teams to adjust to with the injuries + new additions. He's relied heavily on our staple guys to get the all the new pieces comfortable with each other, which has led to the increase in minutes for LBJ and Irving.

Part of me was hoping one of the new additions would have been Bobby Brown, the jokes would have written themselves.

Damn straight. It's remarkable that Blatt gets no credit for coaching Lebron + Shump, Delly, JR and TT to a 12-2 record in the East playoffs and then to six games against a totally healthy Warriors squad. Yes, Lebron deserves most of the credit but you can't tell me that the coach plays no role.
Not to mention that I still believe the post-trade Cavs that razed the league are still the best, most scary iteration we've seen of this core. I'm not going to disagree with Blatt's dismissal because I do think he lost the locker room last year and he was never going to fully integrate Love.

But the Cavs team that we saw in the late winter/spring of 2015 was downright scary.

Best Cavs basketball to date with a less talented roster.

I don't know, the last three games of the 2016 Finals were pretty good.

All-time individual performances no doubt. But the flow and enjoyment in which the team played with after the deadline was just something else.
Cavs annhiliated teams from the start of games till the end and never let go with good defense and very balanced offense.

The best your team ever looked was in last year's playoffs when your team literally obliterated opponent's on both ends for the first three rounds, playing the best offensive basketball of any team in the playoffs while still playing good defense. I mean have people forgotten that run already? The Cavs were literally setting three point records in playoff games only to break those records days later. The second unit was just obliterating opposing second units too with all sorts of creative Delly-LBJ actions. Not to mention that every out of bounds play was a thing of beauty. It was awesome to watch.

This team will be much better than last and thats scary for rest of nba...i watch every game and you can tell the cavs dont play tje hardest every game

i don't get this coaching staff

wasn't deron brought in to cut down irvings minutes? so why is he still playing 39 minutes in a meaningless regular season game?

how long can lebron and irving log that many minutes without their bodies getting taxed too much for the long run (finals)

choaching staff should get their act together

Wat's up with this dude. Why was Frye playing there in those closing minutes when we needed stops? He needs to get over his "am just trying stuff" phase. That shit is costing games and he ain't learning shit.

And no excuses about the injuries. Coaches around the league routinely do better with less.

I hate how Lebron's greatness sometimes hides incompetencies.

I'm not here to rip the coaching staff. I think they're doing a lot of experimentation.

But I have noticed they are giving Deron and Kyrie a lot of time on the court together at the same time.

I'm not against it. It has looked good at times. Gotten Bron some easy looks even!

But he is ultimately here to back Kyrie up. We need to focus on that.

I'd like him to be aggressive more often. He's a good scorer too. It will open everything else up.

He's trying so hard to fit in,he's telegraphing everything trying to always pass to Kyrie and Bron...

Coming in as a point guard has to be the hardest to get a rhythm for sure. It still hasn't been very many games. He's had a few good ones, a few bad ones.

The problem was beyond that. Tristan was having difficulty stopping Drummond on the glass. So he went with Frye to spread the floor instead. But Frye couldn't properly defend the pick and roll at the top of the key.

What should we have done?

Our problem is that our team construction has bitten us in the ass. You can only get away with playing Tristan Thompson as a starting 5 in the NBA before it hurts you.

To the FO's credit we got Bogut, it just didn't pan out. But playing with essentially 3 power forwards and no legit rim protector is cause for disaster in the NBA. We've found that out this season.

Something needs to change... We're just simply not a good basketball team right now. Offense has been stagnant (minus Atlanta game), defense has been horrendous... I put a lot of that on the players, but coaching has to start taking heat for this bullshit we've seen on the court lately. Lue needs to change some things up defensively or we need to get a rim protector (Larry Sanders)
