Man, I want to be happy for Durant. He seems like a nice dude, and it's always cool to see guys who have battled for years finally break through and win. But I just... can't bring myself to care. Even when LeBron won the first one, I may not have enjoyed it, but I did think, "Good for him. He finally did it." Then when he ended the Spurs the following year, I realized how stupid I was for continuing to root against him.
But with KD... I can see him throwing daggers in the biggest games of his career, and there's just nothing. I keep coming back to the lines about him just wanting to "be one of the guys" and his need to "have fun playing above everything else." I mean, even when LeBron left, you KNEW it was because he wanted to win championships. And no matter how much we all may have hated his leaving, we had to admit that the Cavs, as presently constructed, were not getting it done AND the Heat were better from a basketball standpoint. With KD, you can't tell me that he couldn't beat the Warriors if he were still with the Thunder.
The whole thing just feels gross. But whatever. What's done is done. Time for the Cavs to circle the wagons and figure out how to get the job done.
