Potential Playoff Roster

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Here is my roster:

C - Yan Gomes, Roberto Perez
1B - Edwin Encarnacion, Carlos Santana
2B - Jose Ramirez, Jason Kipnis
SS - Francisco Lindor
3B - Yandy Diaz, Giovanny Urshela
LF - Michael Brantley
CF - Austin Jackson
RF - Jay Bruce, Lonnie Chisenhall, Brandon Guyer

Starting Pitchers
Corey Kluber
Carlos Carrasco
Trevor Bauer
Mike Clevinger

Relief Pitchers - Cody Allen, Andrew Miller, Joe Smith, Bryan Shaw, Josh Tomlin, Tyler Olson, Zach McAllister

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greg Allen slides in if Brantley can't go. Danny Salazar pitches sim games to try to get back for ALCS.

Salazar isn't doing sim games; they're bringing him out of the bullpen and seeing what happens leading up.

This is who I am rolling with. Not getting my hopes up for Brantley.

For the WS:
I remove Otero and add Salazar. Slide Clevinger into that 4th spot instead of Josh (Mike has more hit & miss IMO) then slide Danny & Josh to the pen. The fireball will 100% be necessary when it comes down to the WS.

Over Otero/Goody?

I think they're all about the same, although McAllister/Goody offer more strikeout potential than Otero. I went with the vet with more K potential.

Yandy Diaz over the last month:

.323/.462/.435/.897

I just can't leave him off the roster. Even if you start JRam/Kip at 3B/2B respectively, Yandy gives you a great late-inning weapon off the bench.

Any sort of update on Brantley would be nice...

I would think next week he should be running and starting to do drills, but that is for a normal return from what could be a bad high ankle sprain. If he isn't running by the 20th then it's a good probability he is out for the season.

Is it good or bad people for us that a pitcher with a sub 3 ERA will be left off the roster in the bullpen and also people want a pitcher in his last 7 starts who has had a sub 3 ERA to also not be on the roster?

It's certainly not bad when the players ahead of them are better

C: Gomes, Perez
1B/DH: Santana, Edwin
2B: Jose

RP: Tomlin, Miller, Allen, Shaw, Smith, Goody, Olson, Otero

I am going with a 6 man outfield and you need a utility guy and that is E-Gon

C - Yan Gomes, Roberto Perez

2B - Jose Ramirez
SS - Francisco Lindor
3B - Yandy Diaz
LF - Lonnie Chisenhall, Jason Kipnis

Utility - Erik Gonzalez

Mike Clevenger

Relief Pitchers - Cody Allen, Andrew Miller, Joe Smith, Bryan Shaw, 2 of (Tyler Olson, Nick Goody, Dan Otero)

I think you can keep Otero off for Josh Tomlin, but for the ALDS I am going with a 3 man rotation instead of 4. (Clevinger in the pen for that series). Also if you need Josh Tomlin is enough of an Athlete to play the field and hit as he was mostly a short stop in college (Clay Buckholtz at AC and AJ Ramos at A&M ahead of him)

For Relievers you need to work a long man in there at some point. Just in case. The problem is you need a 25 man roster and there are about 30 guys you can put on a post season roster for the indians. I am also tempted (If Zimmer was healthy) to leave Kipnis off the post season roster.

I would rather have Diaz than Urshella as Yandy has the better stick.

I also could make a case for Abe Almonte over Greg Allen as well, but if I need a pinch runner and give him the green light to steal bases I want Allen in that position.

0% chance they go with Gonzalez over Urshela as the backup infielder.

This is correct.

The only real dynamic here is how they'll handle the outfield.

If Brantley can't return, it will be Kipnis and a platoon out there. This is the most likely scenario.

If he comes back, Kipnis goes back to 2B and Ramirez goes to 3B.

So a platoon in LF, like the below, or Kipnis full time LF?

LHP: Chisenhall - Jackson - Guyer
RHP: Kipnis - Chisenhall - Bruce

Then Urshela at 3B? Likely not a spot for Yandy if Kipnis comes back
