First off, I have yet to make it to the Browns Backers to watch a game really carefully. Here's what I see.
He feels less and less comfortable with each passing week. The Bengals defense has been underrated this year, they lit up Aaron Rodgers, but the claims that Kizer is especially good against the blitz are now inaccurate. Opponents in the preseason keep blitz packages vanilla, and now that games matter I see a Pavlovian response from Kizer getting sacked so often. His decisions and accuracy are both trending in the wrong direction with each hit. Keeping the glass half empty, this shouldn't have been a surprise because despite Indy and Cincinnati getting off to bad starts, they had talent. Even when Kizer had time to throw, he looked like a 21 year old rushed onto the field.
Positives - He hasn't stopped looking to make plays from the pocket. If he had ANY receiver who made an inaccurate ball catchable or a quality receiver who caught 50/50 balls like Larry Fitzgerald or Hopkins can, some of these problems would be masked. He suffers from how Browns his supporting cast is on offense aside from being rushed onto the field. So, not a lost cause... but a bad situation that I hope doesn't break him.
